I saw this book on a bus ad. Apparently the 8th book is "official" according to wikipedia and it's called "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child". I believe it's being released on July 31. Anyone planning on buying it on the first day?

Is this literally just the script for the play or will it read like an actual novel? I don't want to read a screenplay, so if it's the former I definitely will not be buying it. I'd rather just see the actual play.

"The play is from an original new story by JK Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany." From BBC

Sounds like it was already a story by Rowling turned into a play, but it also says "An eighth Harry Potter book is to be released this summer – containing the script for a new stage play telling the wizard's story." so it might be the play script…

I still haven't read most of the original 7 tbh

I wouldn't mind reading a script, though. I've been through AP English Lit, so I've already read half a dozen Shakespeare scripts without ever having actually seen them performed. This wouldn't be anything new.

I'll wait till the Movie, and if it's good I'll give it a read.

It was a play in London, but it was only for a limited time.

Anyways, this is the year Harry Potter comes back. We got Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and the upcoming spinoff film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

I'm somewhat interested in Fantastic Beasts, but I really won't be satisfied until there's a Marauders spinoff.
