Make A Badge

That's right, this is your chance to help us expand on the site badges!

How? Simple: Make one. Here are some examples:

Of course there are some rules to it:

- Feel free to be a bit specific. Badges that run on high digits such as "Make a ton of comments" are properly too difficult to find good candidates for unless they dominate into the impossible, at which point the standard becomes too high.
- Don't be too specific. We want badges that can last, and not have 1-2 users to give them to only to then never have a function again.
- No joke badges. Wow yes, suprising I know, but these are still rewards and not a circlejerk for you and your buddies.
- Site events are fair game, like for example Bob's Scavenger Hunts or Community Building Contests. Any small and effordless forum game won't do, we're expecting big and well organised here that everyone on the site can enjoy and that you will see through from start to finish. Badges for these events however won't have a custom title linked to them.

Outside of that, we want to give you freedom. Maybe some great ideas will arive.

- "When can we expect these?"
We can make no promises there. This is something more for the long run, so don't get your hopes too high. Think months, not weeks.

- "How can I get into badge making?"
Glad you asked. For starters I was kind enough to prepare you an image template. But if you're feeling crazy, make use of the Online Badge Maker. If you wanna get REALLY insane, you are even allowed to draw us something.

Remember, originality is promoted! So using the latter 2 options will increase your odds. The only restrictions are that is has to appear like a legit and finished work, and have the shiny golden outline.

- "What am I doing this for?"
Badgeception

Doesn't come with a custom title, but you're rewarded althesame.

- "Can you get me started with some ideas?"
We are looking for at least a badge for the generous users on the site who did big ass giveaways for everyone (not just friends), but other than that anything we could come up with is probably something you guys have no issues with as well. You're free to share ideas yourself as well if you lack the artistic skill.

Here's a list of already existing badges.

If you want to nominate someone for an existing badge, make use of the other thread.

Just a couple a drew out, I'll make them transparent if any find them to be good ideas. Also I like the ideas of Music Maven and Vineologist.

Left to Right -- Video Game Voyager (for an astounding knowledge in video game memes), Paparazzi (For the ability to create entries for celebrities with ease), FNAF Authority (For an impressive amount of knowledge in the FNAF fanbase)

Just a couple I made in a few minutes, I can make it look more authentic if anyone likes the ideas.

GGologist (alternately: GamerGate Researcher, maybe even GamerGate Leader just for fun)

Rewarded to the gamer who's the most ethical and has the highest SJW rekt count

Given to those with extensive knowledge of GamerGate related events, memes, etc.

I'm going to be cackling over this badge maker thing for like three hours lmao this is almost therapeutic. I have no idea what these are for tho, like where do they go when you're giving them out to people? Are they displayed somewhere specifically?

100% actual female KYM user

Deadpool Denier – Saving entries from Deadpool'd state

World Wide Memer – Extensive knowledge / creation of international memes (I saw there were some country specific badges, but why not a world wide one?)

Video Game Voyager – Video game memes (Fuck you Raspcallion I thought of the exact same name and everything)

NSFW "Researcher" – NSFW memes and knowledge

Badges are displayed under your avatar (in your profile page), like so:

You can nominate people for badges here

Remember, badges have to be related to site contributions in order to make the cut. We're not going to reward people just for liking things, but only for actually being a worthy asset to the site or its community.

If you wanna make joke badges though for people to pimp out their wall with, have this thread.

KYM Manga researcher: Given to those that made entries on mangas with a considerable underground following or just mangas in general

I did my best considering my limited editing capabilities, the text reads from right to left, like a manga, it has some translator notes like a lot of manga scans do and some sound effects :3 hope you guys like it

For winners of the Riff Raff Meme Championship

Whaddya think?

me, lisa and rikameme are totes getting that badge

  • KYM Technical Advisor: provided essential/incredibly helpful technical feedback for the website.
  • Dank Memer: provided a lot of help on the research and documentation of "dank"/"ironic" memes, as well as uploading many examples.
  • Diplomat: non-moderator who has helped quell user troubles and arguments, as well as reporting inflammatory messages, NC content and handling user crises in general.

Weeaboo: Voted by the community or given by a mod who deems your unnecessary knowledge and obsession with anime and manga worthy of this badge.

You son of a Bitch!: Voted by the community or given by a mod who deemed you friendly and reliable.

Successful troll

How about a badge for our most well loved and respected clowns and jokers? The users that acquired fame and fortune being decent trolls for once and making epic threads or submissions in which everyone lol'ed. I'm talking about the guys that didn't just shitpost but actually had a decent sense of humor and trolololo'ed their way to KYM stardom. A badge like this goes only to the best of KYM comedians, or the kind of troll that the mods suspend over and over but take forever to eventually ban because we like their style of trolling too much.

Note that I intend this badge to be given to humorists to encourage fun threads. It can be given to actaul trolls too…. after they have been banned

Music Maven: CLUB EDITION

I really liked RM's idea for a badge for contributors of music related content. Enough so that I made a version for EDM faggots like myself. I might also create a version for other music scenes, like a Rockstage, Moshpit, Rap Battle or Orchestra. My idea is that people who get the Music Badge could pick one out that more specifically matches their interest.

Kinda bored, so I made another one:

  • Cartoonologist: The name says it all. For users who aknowledge about cartoon subcultures and cartoon-related memes.

And as I was pretty bored, I made this too (it will never be accepted because it's a gif, but looks cool :P)

since i saw some people making fandom badges, i made some (for my own cause im that much of a shitlord) while toying around

certified gem: for prominent SU fans

hood classic: for users who have shown promiment knowledge of meme rap

(yeah its ugly, but i had to rip lil b's logo from one of his covers, there is no transparent version)

Totes original concept.

Creeper
For one dedicated to documenting paraphilia. Could be used for categories like Hentai Quotes, Internet Paraphilia, Body Inflation, Monster Girls, ect.

Thought of some for fun. Here they are:

  • Lonely Caretaker- Obtained by contributing more than 50% of a non-deadpooled entry with more than 500 images.
  • Active Senior- Have some sort of activity recorded on your account every week for three years in a row
  • Spaaaaace- Be active in space related entries (image should feature space core)
Political Strategist- Be active in political related entries
  • Cited- Create an entry that gets cited by Wikipedia
  • Newsworthy- Create an entry that gets linked to by a major news publisher (NY Times, Washington Post, etc.)
  • Impatient- Over one percent of comments or forum posts consist of standard usages of tl;dr (including something like "tl;dr version" wouldn't count, for example) or "lol, didn't read" images.
  • Moviegoer- Over one percent of posts contain "eating popcorn" or "Dis Gon B Gud" images
  • Not thorough- Over one percent of image uploads are actually re-uploads, or suggest research into something that already has a page five times
  • Thorough- frequently provides links to sources when debating
  • True neutral- either post at least 500 comments without giving any thumbs up or thumbs down, or post 500 times in the forum without chaining anyone's karma
  • Chatterbox- Post, on average, any combination of at least 20 comments or forum posts or emails or wall posts, per day
  • Master or Disguise- Change name or avatar image at least once a week on average
  • Oversharing- Never decline giving out personal information or opinions, and do so even when unprompted
  • April fool- play a prank of some sort every April 1st (could be adapted to other holidays)
  • Insane- reply to your own posts frequently
  • Verbal tic- only post in haikus, palindromes, iambic pentameter, etc.
  • Great Wall- have at least 1000 comments on your wall from other people
  • Ambassador- Invite someone either from another site or "real life" to kym and they become an active member
  • Pure soul- Never post any nsfw images or write any curse words
  • Anger issues- have insults or curse words in at least half of your posts
  • Niche member- only post comments in one entry (and possibly allowing for related entries)
  • Just do it- Create some sort of community project, like the current religion list of users thread
  • Twitterer- Average post is less than 140 characters.
  • Novelist- Average post is longer than 1000 characters.
  • Miracle worker- actually change someone's opinion about something on kym
  • Indecisive- delete at least one sixth of your total comments ever posted
  • Lost and found- become an active member after no activity for a year
  • Quizzer- Share lots of online tests/ quizzes/ etc. in the forums

Wow, sorry, I didn't mean to write so many. The (bad ideas) just kept coming out. Hope at least one is useful.

I'm a bit late, but I wanted to get this one in here since we don't really have any badges for community events.

Mafia Survivor - Survive a game of mafia right to the end.

A badge i slapped together, directly to you.

It's a badge for people who've contributed a lot in memes related to Nintendo. Though in the wrong run, i think the usage of Iwata might feel a bit distasteful but he definitely feels life the face of Nintendo as a company.

I couldn't think up any new ones that weren't already done, so I decided to make graphics for a few of Roy's that I particularly liked. Fun for a bit of image editing so why not.

edit: lol I just realized this thread is a year old. Why was it bumped?

edit2: here's a badge, Archaeologist: For people who bump really old threads.

Stolen from Civ 5

Indie Interrogator – Awarded for independently-developed video game (indie game) meme research, media archiving, and/or community activities such as forum posts and comments.

I obviously didn't draw this myself, though I made the shiny thingies on my own.

I wanna try making badges for the Regular Titles, like Scrapbooker and Pundit, since they don't have those.

I made badges for a couple titles.

Sleuth

Jr. Researcher

Investigator

Researcher

Sr. Researcher

Digital Archaeologist

Most of the stuff was from Google Images, with a couple minor edits from me like the skull. Should I keep going with more titles?
