There are only 2 possible outcomes from this

Number 1:

The whole thing can be used to set people up for a massive banning spree or similar trolling attempt. Its happened before, it can happen again. This is 4chan, put nothing past them.

Number 2:

Even if it isn't a trap, this is bound to cause massive butthurt anyway. The /mlp/ board will cause the /co/ and /b/ boards to clash resulting in rage and trolling one way or another.

It is inevitable because, Brony or not, nobody from /b/ can be trusted to keep things orderly or get along with anybody. And don't forget /b/ isn't the only thing likely to cause trouble here. Any other board could stage a 4chan civil war over this simply because people honestly are that vein.

I'm going to watch from a very, very safe distance.

No shitstorms yet, looking good so far. Everything in there is usual 4chan banter, few lulz here and there. But I'd still recommend everyone stays frosty

So far no shitstorms, no gore, one lame obvious trolling attempt that went nowhere (that was the OC alicorn) and only one r34 image. Our Pony General thread is worse than this.

I believe this is actually a good thing.

First, all the bronies now have a place to actually go spam ponies. Although it will not stop it, it will most certainly lower the traffic on the other boards.

And yes, I know bronies already have ponychan. But ponychan still is no 4chan, and certain bronies still prefer 4chan over ponychan. Which brings us back to lowering the traffic on the other boards.

Plus it can also be seen as a way of "fair enough". The Pokémon fandom has multiple boards, yet all the MLP fandom received from the mods on 4chan so far was bans. Yet the second fandom is currently a lot bigger. So giving them a single board to take all their traffic to is in someway fair. You can then bring the argument again from ponychan, but I'm pretty sure Pokémon also has multiple seperate sites for discussion and stuff.

That, or it's that dumb banning conspiracy everyone is scared off.

People are being perfectly reasonable when they suspect a trap. 4chan has done it before to the Furries.

4chan doesn't respect Bronies any better and offers the Bronies no reason to trust them

Furries and bronies aren't the same. Bronies have beaten 4chan before.

They now make it possible to lower the traffic on the other boards a lot. If it turns out they just use this board to ban all the IPs posting on it, they'll be back at zero. As all bronies will return to the other boards. Not to forget enough non-bronies will also post on /mlp/. I already counted at least 2 loli threads when looking at it. So the chance is there they will ban non-bronies or even haters.

Of course, it's a possibility they will just ban all users like on April Furs Day. But the shitstorm such an act will cause will be massive.

On the other way, they now have a simple reason to directly ban all ponies posted on /b/, /co/ and other boards. Using the argument that there's a seperate board for that stuff. I find this a more likely possibility.

But then again, I'm not really a 4channer. I'll notice in time (which will be the next couple of days if they follow April Furs Day). I'll just avoid all boards for now.

Bronies who have inner ponies are faggots furries, also bronies who enjoy cosplaying as ponies are furries.

I see what you mean. I'd like to believe it's legit, after all this isn't April 1st and so far this is turning out more positive that expected. The reasoning behind the /mlp/ board is sound and logical.

Plus like you said, pulling another stunt like April Furs Day wouldn't do 4chan any favors. In fact it will probably cause more harm than good

Will a mass ban be stupid move to make? Yes, but 4chan isn't the smartest and most rational of places. I still would not put it past them. People there smoke shaving gel for the LOLZ

And while it's true that Furries and Bronies are not the same, 4chan doesn't share that belief. On 4chan, Bronies are just another 'cancer' and gets the same amount of respect as the Furries do.

pokemon is a 13 year old franchise that has games, trading cards, cartoons and movies. that is sizble enough for a new board. and even then, it is considerered the worst board on 4chan.

MLP is 1.5 years old, and is only a cartoon. it doesn't need a board of its own. it will rot and decay fast.

The problem is that the people on /b/ don't like seeing ponies at all. They complain to moot about it day after day, begging him to ban every Brony off the board.

I don't believe /co/ has that much more patience for MLP either.

there are other reserved threads in our forum. the bronies are not special in that regard.
if they were fine just sitting in one thread at a time. why do you think it will be better if they suddenly get this much space? it will turn into /vp/ – which is considered to be the worst board on 4chan. and that board belongs to a much older and larger franchise. so think how badly /mlp/ will rot…

Personally, I'd rather see an on-topic post necroing a thread than making a redundant one.

Anyway, I briefly considered posting on there. It seems to be a 4chan board, but there hasn't been the universal ban that we were anticipating nor does it seem to be overrun with trolls (no more than any other board.) I don't follow 4chan all that much on the whole, but the most grief seems to have come from the fact that a board was created and not the fact that it currently exists.

I'd like to know if what Jolly Jew was saying is true though. I think I remember seeing rules where ponies (or at least pony threads) weren't supposed to be posted on any other board (don't know if that included /b/.) Has anyone seen pony threads elsewhere? If so, then was it a bannable offense?

I visited /mlp/ a few days after it was created, and still visit from time to time now that the fuss has died down.

During my first visit there was a lot of shitstorming and other stupid bullshit going on, but on the other hand I did get to witness this post:

Anyway, now that the fuss has died down, the board is surprisingly pleasant. Porn/Rule 34 is not allowed, roleplaying is not allowed, and the mods are doing an excellent job. And do you know what I saw there that no other pony community I've seen has been able to pull off (not even you guys in the Pony General thread. Shit, KYM, get it together), despite the entire fanbase claiming it as a central key element? Love and tolerance. There wasn't a flamewar in sight. It was beautiful.
