@ Disturbed Brony

As for your request of getting the new Pony General by Wednesday…

Hopefully, some users will post A LOT so that we can get it to you by Wednesday. I'll try my best, though!

I mean… if it's OK with the mods…

Is it?

@KewIn00b
The show's clearly ruined FOREVER now and will spiral into mediocrity. You know, like it did after Faust and that other guy who I forget the name of left.

@Windigo
There was a brony survey? Why does that sound vaguely familiar?

Also, this is from Hasbro's 2012 Annual Report:

As one of our franchise brands, MY LITTLE PONY continued on its growth trajectory last year. With the support of global television, product innovation, inventive licensing, a new digital app game, online experiences and a strong retail execution, MY LITTLE PONY posted very robust, double-digit growth year-over-year. In 2013, the magical storytelling behind our global animation will focus on an all-new theme and we will unveil an entirely new intellectual property based on the brand.

(Emboldening added)

The new IP has to be Equestria Girls, but what's all this about a "new theme"? My Twilicorn senses are tingling. All jimmies, stand by.

Exactly, this show is ruined because they got one of the geniuses behind Ed Edd 'n Eddy to direct this show. This is hooooooooorrible.

My Sacrcasm Detector just noticed a massive spike! This could be an issue for this thread.

So instead… Let's go look over in the Music Section… See if there's anything vaguely digital sounding in there…

Ah, screw it, this will do:

Anyone got anything else?

I just haven't been able to get enough of Fruits Of Her Labour lately.
I found this to be rather satisfying:

This good for you, Lunar?

My jimmies are more than ready.

MY JIMMIES ARE MADE OF STEEL!

But in all due seriousness I could see the next 4 pages being the slowest fucking pages in the history of Poni thread.

I don't know why but I can't stop calling/thinking about calling Twilight Purple Smart. I don't even go on /mlp/, maybe that's my purpose….is to use and ruin inside jokes from 4chan……This must be.

MY DESTINY!!!!

Wait…THAT'S my destiny?!

@Brony Survey
There have been a couple of them now, but if you are meaning the most recent one, you can find that here: Herd Census
Or you can look at the older one headed by opspe and our very own Verbose from here on KYM: Survey of the Brony Subculture
Happy reading!

With all the recent talk of explaining disabilities to children in a constructive way, focusing on overcoming adversity in order to live lives full of dignity and strength… this made me laugh way harder than it should have.

And now for something completely different!

For the last 10 minutes I've had part of "At the Gala" going through my head. Approximately the part Where Celestia goes Disney castle over canterlot right before Dash's part.

And then my Brain skipps tracks and Suddenly the "This Day" Aria plays in my head, starting from the point Cadence sings something like "For I also Love the Groom, all my thoughts he does consume… Oh shining armour, I'll be there very soon!"

And then my brain goes right back to the Aformentioned "At the Gala" part and repeats.

Guy's my brain is a cracked record! Help!

And we didn't even get to cum inside Rainbow Dash.

Somewhere on /mlp/ they're having a reasonable conversation right now. No talking about cumming in Rainbow Dash, no insults, no throwing the word autism around, no calling others the N word….it's a peaceful place.

@/MLP/:
Well… Just saw this in one of their threads.

It starts innocently enough. You see all the craziness about the show on your favorite internet sites. You think, "Lol, fucking faggots, what is wrong with people these days? I'm never getting into that."
A few weeks later, you can't take it anymore. You HAVE to check out the damn show. You think, "I'll just watch one episode, in secret, on YouTube." You watch it, and instantly you love it. You begin watching every episode, and soon you are sucked into the discussions.
You pledge that you will never let it go too far. Okay, the show is legitimately good. But it's not like I'll ever buy the toys, or the DVDs, or be one of those goddamn "cloppers" or anything. That's just plain creepy.
Then, as you lie in bed at night, lonely, you start to think about how much better you would feel if you had a plushie of your favorite pony. You begin to question yourself and fear that a mental breakdown is imminent. You become aroused by humanized porn, but you reassure yourself that it doesn't count as clop. Then one day, it happens.
You get the biggest whyboner off of MLP porn that you probably saw here, and you give in and jerk it to it. It's just that one pic, right? But no. Soon you are obsessively jerking it to every mare on the show, and you probably even go gay for Braeburn.
Now you are in the final stages of detrimental obsession. You fall in love with one of the ponies--probably one of the main six--and it isn't just sexual desire anymore. She is your waifu--you love her more than you've ever loved any human female in real life. But you know that you can never, ever have her, and it drives you crazy.
Maybe you've kept this all bottled up all this time, and the paranoia of someone discovering the depths of everything is driving you to near suicide. Maybe you're lucky and have understanding friends/family/therapists etc. But you're in too deep now. You can't stop coming here. You can't stop fapping to ponies more than humans. You can't stop loving your waifu.

During a moment of repose this weekend, I tallied up the votes. There's a new title. No ties, and I'm pretty sure I got the votes and runoff process right.

However, I'm not going to say what, because I need to start on a non-KYM project I'm a jerk suspense.

But I was thinking that since we've already fired off a total of 6 of these, it's nothing new anymore, and pretty much all of the interested mods have started a Pony General thread before, why not have a non-mod user start one? We could give the user a brief template (i.e., links to the first post of the past threads,) and let them have at it with the theme of the new thread.

No, we're not having a vote on it. Screw you, screw you, and screw you.

I'll do it, if we go that route. It will be a good opportunity to tell everyone how much MMC sucks | advertise my blog | give a dissertation on how awesome Fluttershy is | get lots of upvotes try something new.

Glad we all see eye-to-eye on the virtues of strike-through text.

@/mlp/

An unusually specific bit of info from Megan McCarthy:

And with a single short sentence, she destroys quite a lot of speculation, headcanon, and potential mythology.
(Or hints that the rest of the six will be alicornssssss?… Nah, probably not.)

You want one of… us to start the new thread?
Like, the post that everyone is going to see and that's in charge of getting everyone excited for the coming months of pony?
That's a… really big job…

I would, and I have the time and patience to do so, but I am only a lurker who stalks this thread I an inexperienced editor I a lowly Commentator who's only been on for 2 months…

It's sad… but if I may do it, I will. What was the winning theme, by the way?

@DeadParrot

Meh, I take tweets with a hefty grain of salt. If it isn't in the show, it's open to interpretation as far as I'm concerned. I'm a real cherry-picker when it comes to external stuff; I'll accept it as headcanon only if it makes a reasonable amount of sense.

Announcing that Twilight won't outlive her friends just like that is weak. If she's going to say such a thing, she should explain why Twilight should be any different from other alicorns.

You're not paying attention!

@RandomMan

It's not such an issue if the user just waits for the signal from the mods, right? And as for choosing favorites, hey, first come first serve…

Eh, I'm voting against that idea. I know I'm not the best person to say this due to being a mod.

As explained before, starting the new Pony General is somewhat of a honor in these parts. Certainly we'll have multiple parties interested (some say you're too shy, but we know you all want to deep inside). In the past we had a few cases of users making a run for it too early so they could have the prestige before anyone had a chance (they stated with good intent, but their personal agenda was obvious).

That was the trigger that made us decide to just let a mod start the new thread each time. Having a party with authority like the mods start one lowers the list of candidates by a lot, and due to our position seems like a much more natural decision that will stumble across less conflict. I know having us decide the user to start it will avoid some conflict, but it'll still force us to pick a favorite. Some won't bother of course, but to others it'll leave a tone of "we like him better, so he can start the thread, deal with it". I rather avoid such an atmosphere.

Considering how you and I are basically the only really active mods in this thread, and how I was the OP of this thread, the best decision in my opinion is to just let you start the next one. Don't create an opportunity for conflict and don't force us to pick a favorite by simply having a party with authority do it. Plus with you going through all that trouble with the polls for us, you are simply the best person I can think of Verbose.

Announcing that Twilight won't outlive her friends just like that is weak. If she's going to say such a thing, she should explain why Twilight should be any different from other alicorns.

My head canon already stated that even if Twilight is Immortal due to Alicorn stuff, she's not going to Outlive her friends…

…Even if they don't become Alicorns themselves.

If all Trixie needed to make an Age spell work was the fake powers of a fake Alicorn via a mystical Amulet. Then Twilight as a Fledgling Alicorn should be able to do the same.

…There's also numerous other possibilities that can be brought in but we don't need to address them just yet. Because they will never leave a chance in the show to have to address the possibility of Twilight outliving her friends.

…Because it's not important to the show, and Death isn't something they are going to address to kids. Since as much as we forget, it's a kids show.

So at this point, my Head canon makes enough sense for me, that I'm not particularly worried.

Plus, the Crystal Ponies all disappeared for a thousand years and weren't dead after that, and Sombra survived the same amount of time for a non specific reason…

I'm pretty sure, that with at least three methods of staying alive for a thousand years being kinda confirmed or implied, there's probably enough justification to say other methods exist if you definitely need to address it.

Heck, I'm thinking that one long term solution may be the Pony equivalent Of crystal Stasis. At least for the majority of ponies that reach Old age and get admitted to hospital.

…And suddenly I reallize this is an uncharacteristcly long post… Better end this here.

I guess that I'm also going with this. I like the idea of a mod starting the thread, because of the "official" feeling it gives it, but aside from that, like RM said, having a mod do it will likely not cause any problems.

Not that who creates a thread should cause any problems anyway…

Dire consequences.

I have the power of the "called it" on my side.

We still doing the Synchtube tonight? Cause if we are I have my awesomely sexy room ready for Synching Youtube vidyas and I am totally not suggesting my room just so I could have some slight power, even though being a mod on a room on TogetherTube is about as important as Rarity

In seven minutes, apparently.

I would offer to start the new thread, but I'd probably find some way to mess it up. I'd probably find some way to mess it up. I'd probably find some way to mess it up. I'D PROBABLY FIND SOME WAY TO MESS IT UP!

Meh, unless it's specifically stated in the show, I'm going to ignore it. Ignoring it makes alicorn mythology a lot easier (and less cop out-y) and provides for some decent feels.

@Non-mod First Poster
My SuperPAC is ready.

Well, well, well, it's the moment we've all (I've) been waiting for.

1st Place Live Free or Twi Hard (25)
2nd Place Twilight Sparkle and the Deathly Hasbro (17)
3rd Place >Implying We Talk About Ponies Here
3rd Place Are You a Princess Too?
3rd Place Rarity General
6th Place You Could Have Prevented This
7th Place The Ride Never Ends
7th Place We Can Eat All These Apples
7th Place We're Out of Star Wars Movies
10th Place It Didn't Have to End Like This
11th Place Because we needed another one
11th Place Stay out of our shed
11th Place Yes, another one, deal with it

<img src="http://derpicdn.net/media/W1siZiIsIjIwMTMvMDEvMTIvMDBfMTJfNDRfODgwXzIwOTczNl9fVU5PUFRfX3NhZmVfdHdpbGlnaHRfc3BhcmtsZV92ZWN0b3Jfc2FudGFfaGF0X2NhcGVfYm9vdHNfYXJ0aXN0X3F1YW5ubzNfc2FudGFfY29zdHVtZS5wbmcucG5nIl1d/209736__safe_twilight-sparkle_vector_absurd-res_christmas_santa-hat_cape_gloves_artist-quanno3_santa-costume.png" height="400" title="Die Hard's a Christmas movie, right?"

The places are based on runoffs. The scores for 1st and 2nd place are based on which users either chose them as their first option or preferred one over another if their first choice was gone (yes, I deleted some votes based off of duplicates, people ranking votes improperly, and one user with next to no activity on the site.)

If you want to see the dirty details, then I can upload them to Google Docs or something and let you all see them all…5 Excel worksheets.

And after reading from RandomMan, I guess it does make sense to let moderators start the thread. I guess it makes for an easier, less complicated process in terms of figuring out who should do the honors.

1st Place Live Free or Twi Hard

Aw, yeah!
Prepare yourselves now, people!
The next thread will be dedicated to the greatest Christmas movie ever made!

@Verbose
I'd be interested in seeing your method if you wanted to make it available.
I get the distinct feeling that you may have made it much tougher on yourself than explicitly necessary…
I didn't do a full mathematical proof of equivalency or anything, but I predicted Twi Hard winning simply by calculating each choice's average rating.
(Total of votes / number of votes)
Basically, the choice with the highest average rating among all users seemed like it would logically end up winning a poll designed like this.
Like I said, I didn't actually prove it, but it seemed to work in this case at least.

Well, it’s official. Twilight Sparkle and the Deathly Hasbro lost. I guess I’ll have to settle with second best title. I just wanted to say some things before Pony General VII begins. I didn’t know all of this was going to happen when I first suggested the Deathly Hasbro. I never took it as a slam against Hasbro. I was just thinking that since it was the seventh thread, I wanted a title based on the seventh Harry Potter book. The only thing that came to mind was Hasbro since it sounded like Hallows. I didn’t know if people would like it, but I suggested it anyway. At first, it seemed like everyone liked the title and all was well. But it turned out a lot of people hated the title and this whole voting business happened. It was chaos, chaos that had become one of the longest topic of discussion this thread ever had. You know what? I like chaos. I had indirectly created a topic that got everyone in this thread talking. That, I feel, is better than all the karma I could ask for. So there you have it. To whoever suggested Live Free or Twi Hard, I’m glad your title won. I wish I could know that feel.

Hey Verbose, I’m kinda sad the title I helped create didn’t win. Can I have the first post in the next thread? Please? You can make it my birthday present.

@Alicorn age discussion:
My personal headcanon is that, unless otherwise stated, Twilight will age normally even though she has reached alicorn status. The reason I say this is because Celestia and Luna were most likely born alicorns, while Twilight and Cadence were made into alicorns, and so they are probably very different from natural born alicorns in plenty of ways. I theorized the aging differences by the flashbacks of Twilight being babysat by Cadence. Cadence was already an alicorn by that point, but she looked like she aged a lot between the flashbacks and present-day Cadence. So I am inclined to believe the created alicorns will not live as long as natural born alicorns, unless an age spell is used. Hell, maybe Celestia and Luna have been using age spells themselves this whole time.

Live Free or Twi Hard? Why pick that? The Die Hard series only had five films while the title is a parody of the third film. Should have stocked to a series with seven films like Harry Potter.

Honestly, I don't really care as much what the title is anymore. I caused a big shitstorm with my title, and I apologize for it. I would have liked for it to be Deathly Hasbro, but whatever. It's fine.
