Ahh, it's not a day on Ponythread until we can all get together and poke fun at Autism. I think I speak for everyone here when I say there's a special place in hell reserved for us, where the only thing on TV is G3.5 of My Little Pony and all Satan talks about is how much he hates Twilicorn.

In a less serious note, I had a dream about Season 4 last night. I had a dream that the premiere was a THREE Parter, but for some reason they played the third part first then the first part and then the second part. The Third part sucked ass so there were mass Brony Suicides. Personally I didn't flip my shit until I found out that they gave Mandopony a major role in the three parter. After that I had my jimmies rustled…..at least my dream didn't end with Jesus killing me (believe it or not that's a recurring element in my dreams, I have no fucking clue why he keeps killing me.)

On an actual serious note, with Season 4 seriously a few days away it made me remember that one of my favorite moments of the fandom had to be the day before Season 3 premiered where I joined one of those Synchtubes (R.I.P.) and had a marathon of all Season 1 and 2 episodes with a select few people. It was fun times, pointing out how different the show was in the beginning and how it felt more 'girly' and 'kiddish' than later episodes, making fun of how Applejack just blended into the background and how we FINALLY understood the "Applejack is a background pony" joke, making Friendship is Witchcraft quotes during the episodes that they parodied over the actual dialogue, to complaining about sitting through so much pone.

All in all it was a great time, I'm thinking we should try a stream the day before Season 4 premieres. I'd post a link to Togethertube right now but the website is down and I don't think we'll be able to do it anyways due to you all having lives and I'm still bed ridden so I have nothing better to do. But still, it's a good idea am I right? It's not? Well fuck you.

I have never quickly resorted to cannibalism as much as I did that day, I mean holy shit I think I suggested that we eat everyone's body at one point or another. Eh, I don't think autistic is really an insult within the fandom itself, it's always more been from the anti-bronies that can't think of anything clever and resort to the classic "BRONIES ARE AUTISTIC. Oh trust me, it's used quite a bit within the fandom. Especially when the ponyfags on /mlp/ talk about bronies which makes your exaggerated comment of "BRONIES ARE AUTISTIC. I’M SO MUCH COOLER, RIGHT GUYS. RIGHT" still relevant when it comes to this. You've never seen a page on the internet mention autism so many times until you go on an average /mlp/ thread. I saw a post saying "How many autism points do I get if I form my hair into a unicorn horn in the shower with my shampoo?" You'll see Autism thrown around by bronies/ponyfags as much as (if not more) than Anti-Bronies.

I should probably clarify that I didn't mean I ACTUALLY have autism. I meant that I got a full row in that spaghetti autism game and therefore won autism.

"Autism" as an insult is really stupid. I hate that 4chan started using it now that they have exhausted "Nigger" and "Fag" to the point of having no insult potential. I don't think highly of anyone who calls people "autistic" with a serious face

But on the other hand, I find it kinda funny saying that the whole fandom is autistic. The insinuation is so silly that I can't take it seriously. I've got no problem using it ironically. The key to taking the offense out of a word is to own it for yourself, I say.

(It get's even funnier when I consider the amount of people I know in the fandom who honestly are autistic. Surprisingly quite a few! Though nowhere near average)

I would like to go on record saying a few things:
1. I would never use "autistic" as an insult, because it is insensitive
2. I may, at times, use "retard" as an insult, however, I am not refering to any person or persons with any form of mental illness, but rather those who are mentally all there, but act as though they have mashed potatoes inside of their skulls. I would never ever use the word to describe someone in an unfortunate situation.
3. If the things I say offend you because you think they are insensitive, I apologize. I try not to offend (most) people too badly (unless they are from PETA), and anything I say is in fun, and not serious. also, I only insult my friends, so take it as a compliment. However, if I cross a line, call me out on it and I'll apologize.

in other news, I watched seven episodes of pone today with a new brony. we finished season one, may start season 2, and are trying to finish before season four starts. anyone else doing a re-watch?

Words don't offend me. I used to have a problem with people using autistic as an insult, but it doesn't really bother me anymore. My friends and I call each other autistic gay retard nigger faggots. You know, because we're childish idiots like that.

The times I have seen people use "autistic" as an insult; I have seen it no differently from people using "nigger" and "faggot" in an ironic sense. In fact, the context and handling of the term is pretty much identical to all the other "Im-using-this-unrelated-word-to-negatively-paint-this-abstract-concept" slang terms. And likewise I'm not going to take it that personally, since I know the actual intent is less than meaningful.

But I will regard people using the word as a serious insult to be pretty immature

I usually never use highly offensive insults since they lead to huge misunderstandings. Once, I told a joke about disabled people in a swimming pool so, I received a black eye and a punch in the gut for being a cheeky bastard. Lesson learned the hard way, thus the reason I hardly use strong insults IRL. On the internet however, I don't take anything personal.

And honestly the "owning the word" stuff doesn't ring true to me, it makes no sense for a word to suddenly stop being offensive because it's now being used in a DIFFERENT kind of offensive joke.
I must admit the stuff with the n-word is the same. Sometimes people make the ironic usage entertaining but it still doesn't make sense. Plus it's crazy for the same word to be hugely offensive and not offensive at the same time.
And honestly, I don't really think there's a way to take offense out of a word, so it's better just to retire it. It's not like we're short on insults to use instead.

I have to say this:
It's not so much that you have to "own up" to the word, or be able to joke about it. It's about not allowing the word to define you. You are a person, and no one can put you in a box, unless you let them. Don't be defined by your shortcomings, push through them, show them you are bigger than that. I am adopted (I was adopted at birth, so I never had a connection with my birth mother). I've had people make fun of me for for it before, because "my birth mother didn't love me", "I was given away", etc. but I just look them in the face and say "so? My parents picked me, they're stuck with you." When people realize that you accept who you are and that your more than just one thing, it shuts them down cold. I have a friend with Aspergers, an he has some limitations. However, he is blessed with perfect pitch, and is amazingly talented at the piano. He using this gift to tune pianos, and doesn't let his shortcomings effect him.
Anyway, tl;dr.

I know for a fact that "autism" is not used 100% as an insult. It's used ironically more than not. I even used it ironically myself on the last page.

Who are the people that use it as an insult? Kids. Kids who don't have the slightest clue. They probably think it's the awesome cool "ultimate putdown, oooooh scary!" and don't even understand what it actually means…that and channers. But thats just how channers say hello. I remember when "gay" was the cruelest thing you could call kids in the playground. Now it's a word that gets used with pride. There is DEFINITELY a way to take the offense out of a word. It's already happened

"owning a word" is very, very real and it works. Don't believe me? Ask the black community. "Nigger" was once a term white people made to remind them how low they existed in the social hierarchy. Now they call themselves that word all the time and wear it like a badge. They own the word. It's theirs now. It's only offensive when used offensively but the word itself has no sting

Same with "Fag". I have many gay friends who have no problem calling themselves that word. Once again, they own it. It was once a word about hate and exclusion, now they use it to express themselves and tell the world they are here to stay. They own the word. Again, it's only offensive when used that way…but so is any word

It makes perfect sense for words to suddenly stop being offensive when people start using it differently because the value of a word is controlled by its context. You should check out how many words in the english language completely changed meaning over the era's. Did you know that "Girl" once meant "Boy"?

Change the context, change the offensiveness of the word. Why let some idiots upset me with blatant misuse of a word when I know that, like all word fads, it changes meaning in just a year?…especially if I force it to change in meaning and offensiveness by using it the way I'd rather see it used (which is to say, properly)

And at the end of the day, this is the internet. Words can hurt you, but only if you let them.

I'm afraid all the HiE stories I've favorited are either Conversion Bureau or "Humanity fucks up the Prime Directive" stories. The closest I can think of to that off the top of my head would be Five Score, Divided by Four aka "The story that had so many derivatives that the mods banned it, before mass jimmy rustling forced them to back down". It wouldn't be exact, though, as 1) it takes place on Earth, and 2) involves the humans turning into the Mane Six (there's a plot twist that makes this far less cringy than it sounds). For the record, I haven't actually read the story.

Anyways, if there’s some kind of Story where humans in some distant future start turning into ponies in some futuristic metropolis… That would be a cool story to check out…

I'm afraid I've yet to come across one like this.

I knew the Cult of Faust would strike eventually. Honestly, if that were to ever happen, that would probably be enough for me to cut ties with the fandom. On another note, I want to reply to the "Autism" discussion posts, but don't feel up to it right now.

Are your bodies ready? Last night mine was, because the ol' club painted the Fence. In the extremely likely event that you don't know what the CMU Fence is, basically it's a fence (in a very visible and heavily traveled area of the school) that gets painted every few days by whatever organization that can claim it in order to display messages to the university, usually for upcoming events (when Bill Gates visited campus a few years back, one club painted it like a blue screen of death). It's very thick with paint and as of today, pony things. Here is a more in depth explanation and history of the Fence from Wikipedia, in case you want to know more about random university traditions. And here are the images of our accomplishments:

We could only paint from 12AM to 6AM, and it took a few hours. We were playing whatever pony music we had on hand and it was very cold. Also, everyone had their plushies as you can see. The front of the fence faces a large open area of what is essentially our campus quad, but the back part isn't viewed as much, so we went did what we usually do when left with spare art supplies and… well, you can see.

The "Wrong Neighborhood" face happens to be facing the doorway of the busiest academic building in school, so a lot of people saw that they were in the wrong neighborhood today. The "Welcome Princess Celest" part was my idea. We also drew a tree on the back of Fluttershy's post. We painted the fence last year as well, the day before election day.

Tomorrow night we will go and eat a spaghetti dinner.

On a totally unrelated note, what do you guys expect to see vis-a-vis the relationship between the show and the comics next season?

I know that there is probably not going to be any kind of crossover per se, but I'm thinking there might be some kind of tonal influence, with the show perhaps becoming a bit darker in response to the very successful comics. Also, with the comics being canon unless other wise specified, it is conceivable that they might introduce a bit of the backstory mentioned in the comics and then develop on it in some way – so, for instance, that teacher pony we saw in the Celestia story may show up and, while the show won't say much about her, we'll know a lot of her backstory and personality from the comics. At least, that's the possibility that I see.

Just a word of warning. It appears somebody was able to acquire screencaps from Episode 3 and posted them on the Image Gallery.

We really need to get a dedicated spoiler tag. The NSFW tag won't work as spoiler images aren't NSFW and people would get pissed off clicking on a pic expecting futa and instead getting Scootaloo flying next to Dash.

Hey guys, It's me! You know, that one kiwi guy. Yeah, you remember.
Anyway, exciting news! I recently got my first real bit of pony merchandise from a Livewire games! There was so much of it too, like, there had to be a dozen Vinyl figures IN ADDITION to a whole bunch of Vinyl minis, and I got every single one of them… well, other than one Twilight figure. I left it in case someone came in looking for pony stuff to buy, and EVERYONE loves Twilight, right?

I didn't even really want the merch, I just figured it wouldn't be too hard to find a use for them. Anyone have any ideas?
