Well, it's nearly that time again, but I've posted the thread a few weeks earlier so we can get the hype train running. What do you think we can expect from Microsoft and Sony this year? What do you think Nintendo are going to announce in their Nintendo Direct? Do you think of their decision to not hold a conference this year?

Being an Xbox gamer though, I'm excited to see how the Durango will turn out. And it has been confirmed that he will be announced there. So who knows, maybe we'll finally get a Microsoft presentation that doesn't end up being complete shit.

Can someone explain the Nintendo situation to me? Will the Nintendo direct just be an Internet thing like its been, or is it going to be at E3? Sorry, just a little out of the loop.

Nintendo is not using the stage presentation this year to announce their software, but will still be releasing a roughly equivalent amount of news via their Nintendo Directs that are to be released on the same day.

Still gonna miss their stage performances though.

WHERE WILL WE GET OUR E3 MEMES NOW?

That's probably one of the reasons they're not making any big presentations. Kind of how the Portal 2 creators tried to not have any memes stem from that (though that didn't work).

Not to worry. Last time they punched us with a Nintendo Direct during the E3 time area, we got this:

Actually, the next Xbox is being revealed on the 21st, at an event in Redmond, Washington in similar style to Sony's one for the PS4 earlier this year.
Confirmed for that event was Call of Duty: Ghosts and presumably the next Halo.

I don't know if that gives them enough time to launch it before next year, but at least that means their E3 conference will be more focused on games. Hopefully that means less motion control presentations which have ruined their last three or so conferences, along with their repetitive nature.

(dunno if it's worth making a Nintendo one, as we already know the next Smash, 3D Mario and Zelda will be announced and shown)

I don't even care anymore, I'll just wait to see what does show up at E3, then I'll get interested. I have a feeling that The Last Guardian is getting moved from PS3 to PS4 with the amount of delays it's had, that or it's going to be like Shadow of the Colossus and release really late in the system's life cycle.

Something I hope Nintendo does is make the demo's they put up available for download via 3DS/WiiU E-shop if possible. That would make the lack of a stage performance worth it.

Oh yeah, my derp. The Durango will be announced tomorrow indeed (one of my friends made certain to keep me aware). Still doesn't take away that I'm a bit more excited to see Microsoft's E3 presentation this. Whatever they announce tomorrow, they will continue there.

I'll be honest, ever since Steam has been introduced into my life, major company games have not really been to interesting too me. Indie games and Valve are gonna dominate the future by absolute quality, your lying tooyou'reself if you disagree. There are tons of Niche markets for these Indie companies to dominate in or improve upon a basic concept. PC is the best system because Valve is on PC mainly, unlike shitty consoles. Consoles are like cancer a themselves, they can't even mod there games; a Mac is all I need.

And now with June nearly upon us; you better grab your tickets, pack your bags, your game boys, clubs for beating opposing console fanboys with, and plenty of Barf Bags, cause IT'S TIME TO BOARD THE E3 HYPE TRAIN BITCHES.

That's right! You are LATE. Better take your Crowbar as well so you can beat your way though the crowds of raging fanboys and get your seat. We have a Nintendo Car, a Sony Car, a Microsoft Car, a PC car, and a car dedicated for Brawling between the fanbases. Free Meals will be served on the last car.

Upon the trains launch, the engines are put to FULL THROTTLE and you will be sent flying at over 420 Miles Per Hour THOUGH SOME SWEET COASTER LOOPS!

UP THIS ARTIFICIAL MOUNTAIN!

OUT INTO A TUBE INTO SPACE

SHOT OUT LIKE A CANNON!

AND INTO THE NEAREST BLACK HOLE!

If you haven't gotten your tickets, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!?!

^The only problem here is that the Microsoft engine exploded on the platform, and now the bitter fanboys are trying to pick up the pieces of their shattered hopes and dreams and slink off into the Sony and Nintendo trains, hoping no one will gawk at their misery and misfortune.

Was that entirely necessary.

I have this feeling I might have a heart attack during the Nintendo Direct.

Also, according to June 10th, there'll be four conferences: Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, and Playstation. I'll be at school during Microsoft's (11:30 Central Time for me) so I'll miss it but I'll be there to watch the rest of 'em.

Unfortunately Microsoft is going to be spending a lot of time performing Damage Control. They dug themselves into a rather large trench by trying to rebrand the system and pushing the original target audience into second place, and not being able to give accurate info.

Nintendo E3's are usually hit or miss, but the fact that they partnered with Best Buy to bring the demo's to us is a step closer to my dream of having an online E3 Arcade. I am a Nintendo Junkie, I have been following the Nintendo News, so I am most excited for their direct. I have a Wii U, and I really like it, but all the games that fall under my personal rule of "get enough games on your wish list to out weigh the value of the system" aren't even out yet. (Depression Impulse Buy. I had the money and my Id kicked my Ego and Superego in the balls.)

Sony… well, I just never really cared about the Playstation systems up till now (the controller is just not comfortable for me). But considering my general interest set, the games that will likely be released on the PS4 will be my preferred second console for this generation. If they can show me some games that I think look fun to play, I might go ahead and get it.

@Quantum:

You are already on board.

For Nintendo copy over Best of E3, Montages, and Birth of a Meme. Along with that… Retros New Game, Smash Brothers Big Reveal, Miyamoto with a Cosplay or Prop, Bayoneta 2 Gameplay Trailer and Year of Luigi Hype.

I recently picked up a Wii U and I love it. So far Sony and Microsoft haven't really wowed me so I'm clinging to what I've already got my hands on I guess. I know I'm beating a dead horse by mentioning No More Heroes, but I'm interested in how the teased Shinobu based entry will play out. Perhaps we'll see some gameplay.

On the other hand, I'd like to see more of Shinji Mikami's upcoming Evil Within :O

I really would literally say yes over and over again for ten hours!

Back in April, some footage leaked from a LucasArts project known as "Version 2" ("Version 1" hopefully being Free Radical's scrapped project that was confirmed to be Battlefront III), which looks very similar to another project called "First Assault," which I admittedly don't know anything about. In addition, over an hour of Version 2 gameplay footage was leaked on May 4th. Problem is, LucasArts got canned, but the rights to Star Wars video games got handed over to EA. DICE, Visceral and BioWare are already confirmed to be developing more Star Wars titles. The keyword there is "DICE;" most people I've seen assume Visceral will take over 1313 and that BioWare is working on another Knights of the Old Republic. Given that there seems to have been very serious progress on a Star Wars shooter post-Free Radical, there's actually more hope these coming years for Battlefront III than the last couple. The game looked really unpolished in the leaks, so I doubt it would be revealed this E3 even if EA is getting on it, but there's reason to believe that it's at least in the works.

They could literally just take Battlefield's mechanics and swap in Star Wars characters, vehicles and locales, and I would pay for it.

I am going to rely on this thread to tell me everything I want to know about E3 because I feel I have better things to do than actually watch E3.

Meanwhile on the road to E3:

Deus Ex Human Revolution rose from the ashes of Deus Ex Invisible War, the sequel to the original Deus Ex; famously known as a failure that ruined the franchise. It is only fitting that the sequel to Human revolution will fail and possibly ruin the franchise for another lengthy hiatus.

XBone:
Xbox One DRM has a 'lot of advantages', says Microsoft. They continue to evade the used games issue, the always online justification but they do help confirm rumors that games need cloud saving to operate correctly. "We think there are a lot of advantages of having your content assigned to you digitally – we did that on 360 with cloud-saved games – and we want to do that with content."

Sakurai: “I have an announcement. During the Nintendo Direct to be broadcast from 11PM on the night of June 11th, the first trailer of the new entry in the Super Smash Bros. series will be broadcast. For the first time, simultaneously across the world! Do not miss it.”

@Doctor Professor Vino
I feel that when I watch E3, I have to get through an hour of nothing to get to 5 minutes of something I care about.
