r/GamersRiseUp got banned

As title says. I heard that r/AgainstHateSubreddits got something to do with this, but other than that I don't know much. It kinda annoys me since I used to be a sub of that place, until I realized around 50% of users were actually serious.

Oh yes poochy
the sub that nonstop calls out homophobia, transphobia and racism inside the gaming community is the worst sub on reddit sure or do you actually believe this "gamers are oppressed" shit
also
GRU IS GONE

they call out "homophobia, transphobia and racism inside the gaming community" in the same way /pol/ calls out crime in the black community. They have a hate boner for gaming communities.

I don't pay much attention to Reddit drama but I know that Reddit has a track record of being… particularly selective when it comes to who gets banned, so I'll acknowledge this as a bullshit move.

Also, Poochy, I know we don't see eye to eye usually, but I'm inclined to agree. Subreddits like GCJ, SRS, and AHS get free passes to be terrible, while subreddits of other inclinations that are less awful (even if they're still bad) get purged.

In my experience, the communities that "call out" the gaming community are significantly worse – just look at the fans, as well as the former and current mods – of the Shitty Gamer Takes account.

Amen to that

I'm going to hazard a guess, but you mean the same way ResetEra calls out "homophobia, transphobia and racism"?

Those users in that sub post CP and gore on other subs such as the r/GRU subreddit as a raid weapon to get it banned, right now its attempting to do the same with r/WatchRedditDie

Good luck trying to report AHS because thousands of people in the past tried to report it but nothing happens, the Reddit Admins have the same IQ as the ResetEra Admins.

Think about it. The "child porn shield" is actually very powerful although very unethical tactic.

You can ban and lock things claiming that that kind of porn was posted in there. If anyone asks for evidence, you can pull Chris Hansen card. And since you say "these people" or "some people", you can't be sued for defamation either as you don't target anyone or even any group in particular.

Although posting real child porn is even worse. I can say that CP, real or not, can be weaponized very easily.

I'm ashamed to say I used to frequent that sub. I want to say that I used it back when it just made fun of r/gaming and actual racists, but it's more likely that I realized the sub was always bad when there was a large debate if "gamers" were pro or anti Israel.

Looking at r/gamingcirclejerk I gotta say GamersRiseUp was better. Other than weird obsession with Don Cheadle GCJ is just plain boring. Like most over 100k subs it devolved into a genuine circlejerk with barely any creative content. GRU at least managed to squeeze a laugh out of me despite occasional hatefulness.

I don't find myself agreeing with you a lot but you're dead on the money here, the subreddit is an absolute shitheap filled with nothing but strawmen, like a lot of subreddits tbh.

Only other thing is the whole point of this one is to make fun of circle-jerky opinions in the gaming community, but instead just belittles people who don't follow their circlejerk, and holds contrarian opinions seemingly for the sake of it.

The meme stopped being funny after Joker actually got released. It doesn't help the meme helped contribute to a massive slander campaign against the film that was ultimately about Inequality & Mental Health rather than "WHITE MALE INCEL VIOLENCE!"

yep. a lot of anti-circlejerk subreddits become an even bigger circlejerk than what they were against.
