This thread exists to continue discussing events pertaining to #Gamergate as it keeps getting invoked in the current media. It serves as a catalogue of the events as they continue to happen as well as serve primarily as a DISCUSSION about these events. The side effect/why it's here in the threads is so that the official comment section doesn't spring to life and gamergate crawls up the trending tab again. It serves as a repository and keeps on as a catalogue of these events/mentions.

And now some history.

I'm restarting the Gamergate thread discussion here, again, as the first one was Locked by Sr Mod Tequila Sunset, stating:

"locked for straying too far off the topic of GG for too long, if you want to discuss GG make another thread, but make sure to keep it exclusively relevant to GG"

The second thread was locked up by an admin without a posted reason this time.

So were starting it again, following in the spirit of the first Gamergate discussion post by mod RandomMan , which (paraphrased) reads:

"With the comment section often misused, please use this thread as a social hub or to share simple info on anything GG related.

Please remain on topic.

If you wish to discuss entry additions instead, please make use of the other thread.

Don't double post unless you rant out of time to edit your post and you want to quote someone's post."

On that note, let's get this show back on the road. Backlogs are here and here

(As of this time I have not received any warnings about breaking any of the 6 rules, nor received any notice as to why the second thread was locked. Therefore, following Skeletor's instructions on starting a new thread should be permitted. If this thread gets locked up, without justifiable reason, then we'll start it up again.)

This will be a one-time announcement regarding these threads:

We will not allow further threads regarding this subject to be posted. Any further attempts to start threads regarding this subject will be locked and the original poster will receive infractions or worse should this continue.

The mod team was originally lenient to where a second thread could be created after the original thread was derailed numerous times in the past. However, the mod team also agreed that the thread would be kept on-topic by its posters and should the thread be derailed and brought off-topic once again, we would offer no second chances. It's because of Sanakan_ht's post from a few days ago in the previous thread, that it became clear to us that this trust of keeping the thread on-topic was broken.

To dissect Sanakan's post, the Scott Cawthon-Jim Sterling conflict has nothing to do with the subject at hand firstly. There's nothing there that suggests relation other than "these people were involved in this thing" and even then that's cutting it very close. The same thing applies to this Glasgow person since not only is there nothing that suggests a connection, and even if there was not only is it is also tangential, the main subject is them getting sick and nothing more. Overall, the definition of "related" for many of the posters plays fast and loose to the point where it's either tangentially related or outright not related at all and comes across as trying to pull off mental gymnastics to make it related.

If you have any further inquiries, Tequila Sunset's inbox is open, as is mine, and that of every other active KYM mod. In addition, we are always available on the official Discord server.
