First Game in Progress

Your are a DICTATOR in charge of a lesser world power. Today you have been granted CERTAIN POWERS to aid you in your quest for global domination. You have a variety of INTERESTS, including WAR, technology, and spreading your EVIL IDEOLOGY. Your aspirations for controlling the globe will end the game with either VICTORY over all enemies, or total DEFEAT of your own forces. You have a strong disliking for the UNITED NATIONS and the goodie two shoes forces of the NORTH ATLANTIC TREATY ORGANIZATION.

As the world is collapsing into economic turmoil, and the former great superpowers decay, collapsing inward on their own complacency, you have finally been given your opportunity to rise above your neighbors and CONQUER THE WORLD.

RULES

1. Absolutely no insulting the other players.

2. No more than ten players.

3. Spots are distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis.

4. You may not play as the USA, Russia, or China. These should be considered the "final bosses."

5. No more than 12 lines per PM. No less than 3 lines per PM.

6. You must title your PM to me as "KYMnatRP" or else I will not read it. If you miss a turn, I will very likely kick you from the game.

7. You will need access to uranium to build nukes.

8. You will need access to oil or else your modern economy will collapse (may not apply to those with alternative energy sources and future tech).

9. You must pick a country with visible landmass. So don't pick Monaco or Sealand.

For those of you who have not played this game the last time I had it on this forum, and for those of you who forgot how to play, I will describe it in a few simple sentences that should cover all the basics and leave no questions to ask. Firstly, each "turn" requires that you send in a PM consisting of no more than 12 actions. You may start research one future technology per turn, but this does not guarantee that it will be finished in just one turn, and you might have to spend some time on any project of a particularly expensive nature.

The other 11 actions may be anything you want, ranging from changing the national anthem and banning alcohol to building up alternative energy supplies and making military movements. As this is a role play game, the true goal is to tell a story. For that reason, there will be very little structure on rules, and the results of essentially everything are my decision alone.

The map will have borders to tell where nations were at the start. Rivers and mountains, as well as deserts, may impede your military movement or economic progression. So choose wisely where and how you do things. Also displayed on the map will be a variety of charts to ponder over that will tell your current standing in the world with regards to military, economy, and the attitude of the UN and NATO (the higher this value, the more likely they will attack you).

If you encroach on oil reserves or NATO members, you will receive punishment from the USA. If you are in NATO, you will obviously have a longer time before the US decides to get involved. Attempting any military action at all will get the UN upset, but if you do things quickly enough, you will have a longer time before they take actions against you.

If you have any questions regarding the rules (and you should, because I always forget to mention something) then just ask and I will answer as well as edit the OP.

Only 10, why is that?

Why do people keep asking that? Taryn told me it was a bad idea in the IRC. I don't get it. I thought the previous limit was 12 or 13, so it can't be that much of a jump anyway.

If there are more than ten people requesting to join, I might consider raising the limit.

Also, I don’t mean to knit-pick, but missing a turn and kicking seems rather harsh. Some of us may simply not be available. Perhaps ‘three strike your out’?

Yeah, its gonna be like that. If you are going to be offline for a full day or series of days, you can tell me ahead of time and I won't kick you. But if you just forget, then the only thing that would prevent me from kicking you is if you are a good role player or if I personally like you.

Oh yeah, that whole launching Russia's entire stash of nuclear weapons at hundreds of target areas spread all over the world, causing the entire human race to go extinct along with three quarters of the earth's population of living creatures, effectively annihilating any hope of a satisfying end to the game and causing a new Ice Age?

I thought we were over that.

@RF
Pick Taiwan. China's worst nightmare, the center of East Asia, controlling the seas bordering China, and also known as the island country that no one knows about.

Or South Africa, as they control the world's most gold and diamonds, but I doubt those would be useful. But if you choose South Africa you can control all of Africa easily, so maybe you should consider it.

Or you can kick Qaddafi and choose Libya. For oil and geographic issues.

Or any random European country as long as it's not Vatican City.

I kinda want to join but I don't have enough free time on my hands. Maybe next time.

Military sizes are totally off. I am going to fix this soon. I am not sure how to make it work out, due to Russia having a massive paramilitary for the internal troops, which can and did act as actual military units during war. I'm not sure how to include it. I will work something out and post an updated chart soon.

edit: I had to cut Russia's paramilitary forces entirely in half to keep them from having an army that dwarfed even Shina. Yes, they really do have that many people recruited. I don't even know why; the cold war ended a while ago. In any case, I am going to play Russia as defensive as possible, to reflect the fact that most of their army is actually some kind of massive police unit.

Oh look, it's this game again.

Props for the Homestuck intro. Put me down as Israel, and give me color number 1.

I think you should make it so everyone has to play before a certain time or date, and if they don't play they skip a turn.

The last spot is reserved for Sweetie Belle.

Also, I am not sure if Theaodu is a troll, or what. So that spot might suddenly become available depending upon his conduct and ability to play the game. I will inform you all individually of when to send in your first PMs.

1 Fridge Logic-Israel
2 AlexGhost- Poland
3 Theaodu- France
4
5 Rapturjesus- Canada
6
7 Derpy Hooves-Japan
8 WKoC- Ukraine
9 RF-Belarus
10 Josh-Australia
11
12 RPP- Denmark

2 more spots, as one is for Sweetie Belle.
I won't be playing…..but expect me to be lurking around watching.
I already have a feeling someone would try to turn the world into a world of trolls.

No, no more spots. There were initially 12 colours, and five spots to choose from. But I removed two colours because they were too similar to other colours and I wanted to keep them different for the colourblind. There are no spots open.

Here's how its gonna work:

Tomorrow morning, I will post in this thread, as well as send out a PM to each of the players informing them that the game has started. From the moment I send that PM, you have 24 hours to send a PM back to me telling what your nation will be doing for that turn. Each time I post a turn, you should assume that you have 24 hours from that post to send me a new PM. I will never post a turn before those 24 hours are up, even if I do have a turn from every player early.

Now, I am (probably) going to bed as well. Goodnight.

I would like to remind you all that I do not handle inter-player diplomacy for you. Therefor, any attempts to make alliances with other player nations in your PMs will be entirely ignored.

Well, since I'm Japan's new leader, let me give my apologies to Yoshihiko Noda, who took the role of Prime Minister in September 2. He is very butthurt right now since I took his role of leader of Japan. I make an official statement to him. And I say:

If you step into Oceanic territory, you better watch your back. Kidding! Just to get it clear, I am not looking to attack you guys. The only reason my military will be going under development is in case a war starts, so no need to fear.

  • AlexGhost, having not sent in a PM, will be kicked from this round as soon as somebody else claims his spot. You do not have to choose Poland.

Europe

  • Russia
  • Ukraine Witch King of Cats
    • The entire agrarian sector is totally privatized, ending the post-soviet era of government regulation.
    • International investors are encouraged to pour their money into the Ukrainian economy, resulting in vast swathes of farmland being bought up by foreign groups.
    • A new draft is made, boosting manpower in the ranks and monopolizing on many unemployed farmers, left without jobs due to new farming equipment and methods being used by the foreign private landowners.
    • The national anthem is changed.
    • Research is being put into alternative energy sources. Namely, nuclear.
    • Hydroelectric dams are being built to provide clean electricity to the nation.
  • Poland AlexGhost

The Middle East
