Unlocking, since we just went over making JFF almost rule free.

I don't know how to moderate it, so pretty much ^this.

As I see it based on what administration told me and the current rules:

  • Avoid duplicate topics. Use forum search and check for pre-existing threads on the same topic before creating a new one. If there is another thread that pertains to your topic, post your thoughts there instead of starting a new thread.
  • Keep it relevant. If you have nothing to say on a particular subject, you can skip the topic and move on. If you want to address a specific individual about personal matters, contact the user via private message instead of starting a public discussion.
  • No porn or gore. External links to sites containing such content or ads will be censored at the discretion of moderators, unless it is absolutely vital to meme research discussions and accompanied by a clear [NSFW] warning label. (More or less a Cheezburger rule.)
  • No flooding or spamming. Flooding, defined as repeated posting of redundant threads, and spamming, defined as posting of any advertisement or promotional materials, are strictly prohibited.
  • No autoplay outside of your own profile page. Posting autoplay videos, mp3’s, or SWF’s outside of your own profile page is prohibited. This pertains to all comments, forum posts, and user pages. Violation of this rule may result in an extended period of ban.
  • Do not attempt to evade a ban. Using an alternate account, proxy IP address or other means of evading a ban are strictly prohibited. Violation of this rule may result in an extended period of ban.
  • Be friendly. We want our forums to be welcoming place for both old and new users. Please keep your comments and posts constructive and considerate in tone. If you observe a user breaking a rule, try advising the user in the right direction instead of posting insults or harsh criticisms. If the user persists, contact a forum moderator.

As I interpreted from my messages and emails, I think the ones I struckthrough don't apply to JFF. Everything else does.

Wrong, it's suppose to be "This ain't a thread, It's a goddamn arms race."

I don't agree with it. I just do as I read from administration.

If the >dearocalypse occurs, then I won't be the one to stop it.

Welcome to the JFF everyone wished for. Anything goes. Post what you wish as long as you get your kicks from it. After all, it's all just for fun.

Maybe we should do that for a week or so. No rules at all for JFF with no consequenses. Anything goes, nothing isn't allowed. All you post in that period won't get back to you afterwards either, that week is 100% below radar.

Let's see if the users can self moderate. They claim they can, we say otherwise, and this is the quickest way to find out.

It should go on for an indeterminate amount of time. Anyone can survive a week. Surviving an unknown amount of time would be much harder.

>They claim they can

Once again you act as if anyone without a Moderator tag is part of some hive-mind of inferiority and stupidity.

Case in point, try getting along with ANN HIRO or Philip for a day. I'd love to see you try.

Bob burned you pretty hard here Cale.

I think you missed what I was communicating.

What I was trying to say to RandomMan, is "you think". If people didn't need moderation, there wouldn't be Moderators. I also don't recall anyone saying "oh we don't need moderation". Even delirious Alex was saying the Moderation should only lighten. To say that we don't need moderation is just plain stupid, and I'm not I enjoy being called stupid for something I didn't even say.

More to my own issue, I don't really care much about forum Moderation, it doesn't affect me. I just don't like it when RandomMan connotates the entire userbase as being on the same level as a group of lobotomized thirteen-year-olds.
I'm quickly losing interest in the Forums only because the apparent precept is that only stupid people exist on the forums.

Which is Ann's case is true.

I'd like to say that Cold Water is a terrible thing to use on a burn.

Mustard or Bleach works amazingly. Christ Bleach is a holy rain of health and good feelings on a burn.

Nobody believes the entire userbase can be generalized accurately. It's just the easiest way to regard the users. After all, if you refuse to judge some books by their covers, you'll never leave the library.
