Post underrated games that you like, but not that many people seem to like

What the title says.
Blazblue

I'm sure it has its followers since its on almost every console, but its really not that popular compared to other fighters. Too bad really, it's a great fighter. It's easily one of my favorites. Ign scored calamity trigger higher than streetfighter 4 even. I bought it about 2 years ago for 20 bucks. It got ruined and I bought another one the other day for 8 bucks. Honestly, you can find these games in the bargain bin next to wii and ds shovelware. The real tragedy is that "ultimate" marvel vs crapcom, the ultimate in gaming douchebagery, probably sold more.

Really underrated gem. My friends used to call me a fag for playing it.

Also BlazBlue is nowhere near underrated.

World of Tanks. A lot of people I talk to who aren't players say it's not a very good game, and I don't understand why. Granted, it has some flaws, such as scaling issues (tanks are the wrong sizes), but apart from that it's pretty good.

@chef
Depends who you are talking to. A fighting nut will know about it, but its nowhere near the status of tekken, soul caliber, street fighter, vs capcom, or mortal kombat. It's not really that popular.

From joystick.com
"After four years and four iterations of Blazblue, Aksys announced recently that the Blazblue series sold 1.7 million copies worldwide. Of those copies, 800,000 were unloaded on US street fighters."
Other fighters see those numbers in a week.

It's like people just care about SF64 (maybe it's 'cause of my voice), this one had great story moments as well, the best multiplayer mode and was a relief after Adventures the Zelda clone.

Not everyone knows that your voice actor voiced many characters in SF64.

Super Monday Night Combat also known as "TF2-rip off" despite having different gameplay and classes (See Final Combat for a real TF2 rip off)
However, now it's known as "Get your hat at level 20 and get out". With pro players squishing new players, the game is almost unplayable at first, tutorial is ass and game still looks like beta, missing cool things that the original MNC had (like LIPSINC, jesus).
Also, they launched the game and a few months later, Pyromania Hype train! Fuck this game and back to TF2! Meet the pyro!

Now It has 345 players per day,400 top and 100 at midnight

Unlike Myst, this game had more to offer. Items to collect and keep, interactions with NPCs, and of course, you could die. Not to mention it has some really memerable and funny lines.

Mabye I should explain myself better. I mean in the eyes of the average gamer. While the average gamer will have most likely played street fighter or mortal kombat, the same cant be said for blazblue. I not saying its not well recived or that fighting game fans dont like it, i know they do, just that it doesn't get the same love as other franchises. Also numbers don't lie, 1.7 million copies sold in 4 years isn't a whole lot.

Mabye underrated isn't the right word, it's unpopular.

Best described as a 3D Smash Bros, with a focus on items.

It had a pretty awesome item combination system too. You could mix weapons with other weapons to make better weapons for later in battle.

Goddangit Capcom, why only 2 of them? With people getting sick of Smash Bros, you'd think this would be the perfect opportunity for a new one, no?

@Leox

Journey is far from underrated. It sold very well if I'm not mistaken and was nominated for game of the year pretty much everywhere, I'm pretty sure it won game of the year from a couple publications too(Gameinformer?).

Ummm. Blazblue isn't underrated as much as you think it is. It's a really well looked upon game among the members of the FGC.

Anyway this is an underrated game.
Anarchy Reigns

Is that a sequel for Mad World on Wii?

It's made by Sega allright.

One of my favorites, but not a game I would consider the best. The best way I can put it: A live-action roguelike. It's not the most action-packed game, but I still like it.

Despite being a Nintendo series, the Wario Land series is probably the most underrated of them all. In the second one, literally nothing can kill you. You'd think that's a bad thing, but it's the exact opposite. Instead, it challenges your platforming skills. Enemies can even be good for you in this one. This is one I WOULD consider the best.

Not a favorite, or a best, but it's still one I really like. It has a unique setting and is better than a lot of other generic platformers, even if it is very linear.

And don't even get me started on Katamari Damacy.

Nope it is it's own game.
Starring Jack Caymen. (From Mad World)
It's a $30 game even at brand new. It's pretty damn hype. Also it has one hell of a OST.

Aw yeah! I loved age of mythology.

Age of Mythology wasn't underrated, silly. I had lots of fun online, many various players and games thousands of people had made!

Also, the title is a bit redundant; saying that an underated game seems to not have a lot of people liking it is pretty much said anyway by calling them 'underrated'.

Now, I know any self-respecting Simcity fan will kill me for this, but I actually enjoyed this game, in certain ways. Its style, theme, and especially music were addicting. I mean, songs like this are really difficult to argue with:

However, I will admit that it isn't as challenging and enjoyable as, say, Simcity 4. Therefore, this game is fantastic when viewed alone. You have to realize it's in many ways its own game, and not Simcity 5. Yes, it's very casual and nothing like the actual city planner simulator the other Simcity games have to offer, but it's still funny and charming. Also, shamefully, it's the first Simcity game I played, so there may be nostalgic bias, but I still stand by my point. Even with its flaws, the society system and different points for city characteristics was really fun, even addicting some times. And that was all helped by the specific sim characters with their own personalities and opinions, the autonomy of the city, and the way people interacted with each other. But hey, that's just my opinion.

That said, I'm definitely looking forward to the new SimCity, and I hope it can integrate those elements into the classic Simcity gameplay.

I wasted far to much time playing this masterpiece.

Yeah, sure, call it a rip-off of Terraria and Minecraft, even though it is a bit, but I think it's pretty great on the portable gaming market for phones.

It's addicting and the graphics are pretty fascinating as well.

Zeliard
was an action-platformer with excellent (for EGA) anime-style cutscenes. My friends hated it. The level graphics were (just look at them), jumping could be difficult, knockback was odd enough to seem glitchy, and you died quickly on collision with anything. I enjoyed the gameplay overall. A similar game for the NES was Faxanadu, which also got bad reviews from my friends.

Halloween Harry
was an Apogee platformer where you kill zombies with a flamethrower. It did so poorly that they changed the name to Alien Carnage in the hope that it would help sales. I thought it was fun.

XEvil
is a fast-action run and gun from the early 1990s with procedurally generated levels and networked multiplayer support. The graphics look like they're from the early 1990s and the controls take some learning, so most people are turned off at the first impression.

Hidden Agenda
is a simulation of running a Central American dictatorship in the 1980s. It has well-written dialogue and plays like a Choose Your Own Adventure book where the paths available to you are different depending on who you choose for your ministers. I recently discovered it; this one is not a case of a game having a bad reputation as much as that no one has heard of it.

Bob's Dragon Hunt
and Ant Kill are Roguelike 3-D FPS RPGs from the early 1990s with the worst 3-D graphics you have ever seen, but they ran on a 386. Bob's is a sandbox that throws monsters at you until you die, while Antkill is beatable.

E.T. for Atari 2600
. I must be the only human on Earth to have liked this game, adding extra weight to the Tang Is An Anomaly hypothesis. I only played it at a friend's house a few times so I did not play it long enough to get bored and annoyed with it. I am not recommending it, but if I liked playing The Game That Killed Atari, it qualifies for this thread.

Free flash games in general. Other gamers find it odd that I enjoy them, but they compare favorably to the Atari, NES, and DOS games that I used to play. Good sources for the latest games are Newgrounds, Armor Games, JayIsGames, and Funny Games. Apparently enough people do play these games to keep the web sites in business, but my gamer friends are not among them.

In the "games they like that aren’t underrated at all" category, my father took one look at me playing Harvest Moon and yelled "BORING!"

Duke nukem forever
It's funny how they bitched about the sometimes 1 min loading screens and i played skyrim and waited 5 min to walk through a door…only to realize theres 2 doors i have to go through still.
Game informer jacked off just from hearing the word skyrim.

I loved this game as a kid, and I still do. It's insanely difficult, but it's a good game, nonetheless.

This was a really advanced shooter for its time and was popular for a bit but it just went under the radar.

The best and most underrated fable 'nuff said.

I only finshed The Lost Chapters and damn it was an awesome game.

Rainbow six Vegas was a great game. I wish more shooters were like that. The multiplayer was the best I ever played for a modern military shooter, and calypso casino is easily one of the best multiplayer maps in existence. What I liked about the game was the variety of ways you would tackle a match. Do you want to rappel down or just use the stairs? What should my load out be and how much armor do I want? Shit like that.

As for sonic 06, never played it, but I did play adventure 2 for the GameCube and I enjoyed that. The two look pretty similar. So mabye it's not that bad.
