the bastion, when mentioned at my highschool gets a lot of shit thrown at it for no reason. When this is one of the best games i've ever played.

When this game first came out, nobody knew what it was. I didn't know what it was. The only reason I played it in the first place is because I got it for my birthday. It's actually really good and I consider it to be a classic.

It's been ten years and alot of people have played it since so I guess it's not underrated anymore. I just wish the sequel will come out soon.

it was one of those survival horror games that were overlooked and didnt get enough attention due to other big big brand titles like resident evil, silent hill etc. i really enjoyed playing it and i believe that it deserved more than what it got.

It gets overshadowed by the original trilogy and metroidvania games that it’s sandwiched between, but is indeed the epitome of fucking awesomeness… and also the only castlevania game that’s had the mercifulness to let me beat it, which gets big brownie points in my book.
And before anyone else says it, yes, a certain “gamer” did introduce me to the series. You get one guess who.

"Underrated" doesn't mean not well-known, it means the game was liked less than it deserved.

For me, it's always gonna be

A dogfighting game involving dragons. Brilliant concept, mediocre execution. Numerous unique dragons each with their own stats attacks and abilities. Massive open arenas and numerous dragons flying around. Didn't sell well and barely anyone knows of it. I'd pay so much to have a remake of this game made with a good dev team and online multiplayer.

I've been watching them play it, and they still do. And while I agree that its full of glitches and bugs, it was funny and fun to play. It's no where close to my favorite game but it was still fun. But then again, I think glitches are hilarious, while it's frustrating to others.

@psuedo
Ok, but for this thread, since many people have been posting games that had good reviews but were overlooked( including myself) we will include those. Anyways you could argue that they are underrated by the consumer who didn't think it was worth their money.

I enjoyed the online a lot. Way better than that piece a dog poo that came out.

This Game:

The Mechanics are good the controls are solid. Capcom has fixed the bugs.

Then heres another game that I like quite a bit.

I think the only way to win is by using supers is very clever, and everyone seems to get frustrated by that. Why don't you learn hit confirms, and cancels?

In my opinion, this is the fastest and coolest racer ever.
It wasn't just a simple course you had to run in. There were lots of different routes and hard shorcuts, and it was fast as hell. I mean, just look at this:

I demand a remake.

@Digoxin ^ The only thing I hated about that game was the tiny render distance. What's the point of having the vehicles move insanely fast if you couldn't see textures until they were 100 feet in front of you? Yeah, the game'd benefit a lot from a remake.

Not everyone knows that your voice actor voiced many characters in SF64.

Maybe he LP'd it? A good LP'er can contribute loads to a game's popularity. Just look at what ProtonJon has done for Superman 64!

Also, who else has heard of Avenging Spirit? That game was a blast to play, and I remember beating it several times on my uncle's MAME arcade emulator. (Complete with joystick and arcade buttons!)

I've heard it's also available for the original Game Boy (making it playable on the Virtual Boy Advance) and through the Nintendo 3DS Shop. :3 But seriously, I love that game to death. I have to wonder… whatever became of Jaleco?

One last thing – here's a link to the first video in a LP series for the game. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to embed videos in KYM.

…Overlooked?!? How is Final Fantasy "overlooked"? It is literally the game that saved SquareSoft from bankruptcy – single-handedly – back in the day. Not to mention that it became the focus of 8-Bit Theater.

ClementJ642, perhaps my favorite Let's Player of all time, has cited Super Castlevania IV as his favorite in the series.

Right to start this rant off im going to first state that I am a true Metal Gear Solid fan and without a shed of doubt love every piece of material the franchise has produced, its simply the best most and epic written storyline and character set I have ever seen also Im not sure if this quite fits right in this thread but boy oh boy it needs to be said….

(Que pent up rage) But my jimmies are rustles beyond repair with these damn people who call themselves fans yet criticize Rising with there biased (and shit) opinions are really REALLY getting to me I just keep hearing the same crap over and over again from them, things such as:-

"Hur hur hur its basically a hack and slash..was bored after 20 minutes" Raiden is a fucking cyborg ninja! obviously the game is gonna have a change of engine so that it can better represent him an how he should be played! so ofcourse its gonna be like that cmon peeeeple!! sheeeet!1

"wut happened to snake? huh? it doesn't have him in it? >:/ aww that's shit/sounds shit" Its a fudging spin off!! a completely innocent canonically non-storyline-wrecking spinoff!! I mean if your that retarded that you couldnt fathom that the lead protagonist wasn't Snake then your probably too retarded to even grasp the fiction itself!!

"no longer a stealth game/too much change/ too different from predecessors" for starters your giving a critique which is heavily skewed and influenced by previous titles, you need to treat it (not as a differently game entirely but) as a new fresh and welcome break from the main flagship MGS which therefore deserves its own unhindered review.

Besides for all those people who are still butthurt Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is just around the corner which takes the game back to its roots and new and updated but original Fox engine which recommends the game play these "fans" crave so much.

In my opinion theres no reason to be so pissed off at this game at all, its not even like it had to be released or even developed. It is quite simply like having a free can of coke whilst waiting for your meal to be served, you appreciate it and enjoy it, you dont return it, and its something to keep you busy whilst waiting but you shouldn't complain about the can of coke because it didn't fill you up as there is still a meal yet to come SO JUST ENJOY IT

Not the best of the Legend of Zelda series, I'm sure, but… It's one of the few I've been able to sit through. I don't know why. I think it's because it just happened to be on my 3DS (thanks ambassador program!)

Plus, I find Ezlo less annoying than any LoZ fairy/helper.

I know its published by EA but the gameplay is so complex and dynamic. You can go so many paths and recreate some creatures.

The creature creator was brilliant. You could make anything you ever wanted. Even a walking vagina. Still, the game itself was just simplified versions of other games. But shit, I liked it a lot

This game had an incredibly robust multiplayer experience( and an almost nonexistent single player one). Anyways, the mechs were cool as we're the upgrades and all that shit. It's fatal flaw? Too slow. Still a cool game.

Indeed actually, that was a mighty fine game, played it right upto the servers being shut off.

That reminds me of Graffiti Kingdom, actually.

It was like Spore, but a 3D Beat-em-up platformer instead.

It was cool for the editor, terrible for the repetition.
But I still loved it to bits.

I remember playing that on an emulator. Good times.

call of duty: World at War.

this is easily the best WWII shooter i have ever played, both single, and multiplayer

the game really draws you into the horrid grimdark reality of WWII, blood, screaming, carnage and a really strong feelings of desparation and hatred.

the multiplayer is amazing as well, it was slow paced, balanced, every gun was cool and fun to use. there were no bullshit killstreaks and sidearms like flashbangs and noob tubes.

the War game mode was absolutly epic and the tank warfare was just endless fun.

and lets not forget the zombies.

and yet people still bash this game because HURR DURR ITS NOT MODERN WARFAR! ITS RIPOFF!!
if that game would come out before MW1 it would have been considered the best shooter of the decade.

the only game that could match this is Red Orchestra

hell, how can you not like a game with THIS epic music???

General consensus is the people who played the Battalion Wars games thought they were really good, thing is only a handful of people played them

This probably got overlooked for 2 reasons. One because most people were focused on HeartGold and SoulSilver, and two because they thought it was pointless to release a remake of Time and Darkness not long after their released. Well I should say one thing, Explorers of the Sky is not just a remake, it's an improvement. I can see the reason that this was made was because the creators knew that Time and Darkness were released too early in Generation IV, it was when Giratina's origin forme wasn't revealed, and Shaymin and Arceus weren't officially revealed. The game also has more to offer, like the juice bar, recycle shop, and side stories that reveal more about other characters. But what really makes me really like this more than Time and Darkness is its starter selection. When the official starter list for Time and Darkness was revealed, I was distraught that Riolu wasn't one of them as me and other people have hoped, and I was especially mad that while they didn't have Riolu they had Munchlax. Since when has Munchlax been popular enough to be considered a starter. I was relieved when I found out Riolu was a starter for this game, and not to mention they brought back Eevee as one too, so I could have that as my partner. Seriously, this game is much better than Time and Darkness.

I've never got the chance to play this one but totally loved BW2 for wii.

Very good, the sequel I think is also overlooked for its trash story but at least the Wii port (I never bothered with consoles besides the Wii and PC) was very fun to play

I'm really wondering what everyone's standards are for underrated.
Anyways, as a huge fan of the original two:

It wasn't as good as the first two, but it was still good. Minus when I couldn't figure out what the hell to do and had to look it up.
I consider this underrated because I honestly haven't heard a thing about it since release. This scares me because we yet again have a cliffhanger ending and this is a series that will most likely rely on demand for a sequel.

Warhawk has to be one of the best online multiplayer experiences out there still, even though it's going on 6 years old (4 of those being without a single update on a game designed to have consistent updates and refreshes). The graphics are just above PS2 level, but that's not the point. The point is that it's an insanely fun game to get into. It's very tough to get into, most people say the learning curve to get good enough to be able to play at a level your not just getting destroyed every single game by most people is around 100 hours. THis is a game that, for just about everyone who played it to this level anyway, took around 1000 hours to get a Platinum trophy in for PS3.

The online community surrounding the game is what really kept me going on the game, and I'm still pretty good online friends with a lot of people I meet through this game and it's community. Honestly, it's by far #1 multiplayer shooter up to this point in my book, even BF:BC2 and BF3 couldn't take it down. THis game sold around 1 million copies, probably not even that, cause that's just the number of registered PSN accounts that have been on the game. It's not well known outside of people who play it, most people who played it gave it up rather quickly because it's so frustrating to get anywhere (it's not like other online shooters where you can quickly pick it up and get somewhere, you have to be a masochist and have an above average level of tolerance for bullshit to stick with it). I have over 650 hours in the game, far more with the community.
