Prior to actually signing up to the site i was a lurker but i never noticed any ad-spam back then only after signing up i noticed it

So i ask this question when did this whole ad-spam started?

There were spammers when Facebook comments were allowed, so they may never have left.

Maybe it just go lost in the sea of activity, since I swear there used to be more users when I was lurking.

There's been spammers for years now. It's been a thing since at least 5 years I wanna say? Probably always. I will say I think back in the day it was mostly just western spammers posting about porn/male enhancement/gambling sites back in the day but now it's almost exclusively South-east Asian spammers posting about hotels, advertising, escorts, and other weird shit. I don't get why KYM is their hotbed of choice personally, I don't think we have that high of a SEA population here.
