The general reaction

">meme"

And that was it. 4channers left the thread at that point

Pretty much.

I think one reason was the board it was posted on--/b/, and we know how /b/ is with certain things. Maybe if the thread was done on /a/ (anime/manga) or /v/ (video games), we may have gotten a different reaction.

"Goat?"

The goat was controlling the farmer's body so she could throw the shoe and spit at that guy.

I've gathered about 52 faces of users so far for the grand kym photo. Even though I'm not even at half the faces required, I'll stop right now, play some vidja games and then continue later.

So, to follow up a bit on the whole game thing:

As was mentioned earlier in the thread, I once wanted to make a trailer or something of that nature. For certain reasons, I realized that it would be very difficult to make something presentable given my skills and experience. A few days ago, however, I thought about making a game. I was going to use Flash, until I remembered that I neither own Flash nor know how to use it.

And that's when I remembered about my copy of Game Maker 8 stashed away in my old hard drive.

I last used GM8 like four or five years ago so I'm learning as I go, and as such--as you could perhaps tell from the video--this game looks like absolute shit. However, this is going to be an important milestone in being the first of hopefully multiple KYM-themed games, hopefully not all made by me.

At the moment, this game is an endless maze-game where you rack up points for as long as you can until you inevitably die from the increasing amount of rakes that show up. The main goal for users will be to get the highest score.

Any idea on what happened to that KYM RPG?

KYM RPG? This is the first I've heard of such a thing. When was this? That could actually be quite a bit of fun.

Also, Pony Gal, what the shit?

I just looked at the old threads. Apparently the last mention of a KYM RPG was 2 years ago.
Also, my posts in that thread were so embarrassingly bad.

Well, I've done it. I managed to slap over 100 user avatars in a single image (I said avatar because I managed to include even users who use avatars without faces). I'll upload it here tomorrow so everyone can see their faces in the picture. Trust me, the picture is big enough that you will be able to see everyone without a single problem. But that would be for tomorrow.

You are the moon and the sky and a god among men.

I can't wait to see what magic you have wrought.

May your name be inscribed in the holy records of the Kymtheon and all of history. thank you based Deustodo.

Ah yes, the KYM RPG

Basically a group of KYM'ers got together and decided to make a KYM based RPG games in RPG maker, or something,

That was before I even came to this site. It's so old I can't even find the first discussion

Several years down the road after long periods of hardship and drama, The development on the game died indefinitely. Let's just say it was slain by pointless forum drama.

But a goat-based game stands a much better chance than the KYM RPG did

Nobody was really that enthusiastic for a game about KYM. But people are enthusiastic about a game for the goat.

This was the original thread I think.

I am impressed with my summary of it since I was right back then. you don't often look back into a thread you posted in a long time ago and agree with yourself.

So I guess you could say you keep playing until it's time to killed people?

I'm quite disturbed about who's right next to me, looking like I'm about to be molested, aside from that 20/10 would favorite and save again.

I knew you would say that. and I didn't mean to do that… at first, but when I took a closer look at it, I just couldn't remove such thing.
@At everyone else about Know your meeting

Gosh, you guys are going to make me blush like a fucking anime or something. Thanks. Now back to the goat post. Since Deltamelon is making a game with the kymtheon involved, we could say we are taking this thing to the next level… again.

Okay guys, right now I'm really booked up with my English and psychology and theatre classes so I don't have much time to work on the game. However, I've used the past hour to scrounge what I have together and make something playable. This is, like, a shitty beta of a shitty game, and remember that the finished product will still be awful. And since I don't know when I'll have time to finish it, I'm going to quench your thirsts for Goat by providing a link to the game file that may or may not actually execute correctly.

Here's a list of things ver0.1 has problems with:

  • lacks a title screen
  • lacks any sounds whatsoever
  • fired cheetos don't interact with rakes
  • fired cheetos don't interact with SRJ parts
  • the border surrounding the room is currently destroyable using the SRJ Blaster (please don't do this)
  • Emissary items aren't yet implemented
  • the Big Red cheeto is virtually impossible to spawn (props to anyone who actually finds one and screencaps it)
  • sometimes fired cheetos don't work correctly. Life isn't fair like that.
  • the game currently takes place in only one room (I plan to add more areas)
  • the light changes sizes when Goat uses a SRJ Tunic

Now, all those problems aside, here's how the game is played:
  • move using W, A, S, and D
  • fire cheetos with the arrow keys
  • use a Super Robo Jesus part with the spacebar

And that all there is to it! Link to the hopefully-working game below.
    Top Goat ver0.1
Most points I've gotten is 1110 (which is kinda low actually). Kinda of a luck-of-the-draw thing. That is to say, you'd better make bloodhogs a priority. Also, if you find any errors--specifically, if you find a rake or bloodhog that isn't moving at all--screencap its location and let me know about it. Let's see how well you guys can do in this beta-test!

Top Goat

So far, not too bad. I could see this on the Atari 2600. Maybe when the sounds get put in, you could use some Atari SFX.

That being said, I find the movement of the bloodhogs and rake awkward. But this is the very first version of the game, so I can overlook that.

What I'm not particularly fond of is the tunnel-vision and the unpredictability of the Rake. Yes, it says how many are around. But you never know where they are. I ran into one by accident because there was no indication of where it was, and the tunnel vision only makes it worse.

I would recommend putting in a map with little dots representing where you, the rake, and the bloodhogs are in the room, if possible, or maybe an arrow that flashes in the direction of a rake when they get close. I haven't used GameMaker in years, so I don't know what can be done.

I just scored 2150 on "Top Goat". It's a good display of effort, if I do say so myself.

The only real issues I ran into involved Cheetos not firing and the occasional diagonal movement. Thankfully, the diagonal issue didn't involve clipping through the maze.

Thank you very much for the feedback. Yeah, when I think about it I suppose the field of view is tiny, so I'll make that larger at the very least (the tunnel-vision was intended to add a sense of unknowing; this actually was originally intended to be spooky, but it doesn't really get across now). As far as movement, you're completely right about it being clunky. What I wanted at first was a smoother tile-oriented movement like that in the Pokemon games, but I haven't made such yet.

As for the unpredictability of the Rake, I guess every time I've died was because I end up being cornered randomly by one. While I originally wanted to make a kind of primitive AI that would start following you when you got near one, it feels out of my league to try and program. Either way, I do plan on adding some form of warning system, though making the field of view larger may fix that problem. Again, thank you for the feedback, considering I have zero game-making experience!
