The only thing humorous about this thread is how people feel the need to mock someone for saying that Riff Raff is shit and cancerous to this site.

This thread does a good job of reinforcing just how weak the mentality of this forum is.

Every time someone like Asura or Laika complains about the KYM, I wonder how they haven't deactivated yet. I can tell they feel pretty strongly about RR, and injokes and Don jokes and all that, so how the hell are they able to still deal with being on this site?

It's funny because despite the fact that there are plenty of other forums you can post in, you have to single out Riff-Raff as it if it's killing the site when you could easily just not go on it and instead go on JFF.

What RandomMan means by be the change you want is instead of just whining for once actually do something. Make an effort. You don't have to change Riff-Raff. Maybe the change you want is something akin to the old JFF. If so post on there. Make other sub forums active instead of the one you don't want.

I believe there's a difference between funny shit you can laugh at, and just generic bad posts. What falls under which is based on opinion. And while both are free to be present here, like anyone I rather see the first than the latter, so I try to promote good shit. I didn't want to leave because I do enjoy it here, I've become acquainted with people here and have made friends, with the creation of this forum I saw it all take a turn for the worst. Me being here is irrelevant however, my opinion stands as it is, and that is what it is. An opinion not a whine, I'm being straight here so I believe it deserves a little more respect.

You and me both, bro. Riff-Raff doesn't work for everyone. It being a bother to several people is a reason I promoted the return of JFF. To give people a place to have the old random fun but without the Riff-Raff mentality. But if they don't make use of the other boards, I'm sorry but that's on them. We already made it so that JFF appears above Riff-Raff on the forum page, to promote its presence, so at that point it's up to the people who wish to use it.

Problem is that the return of JFF was too late. The damage of Riff-Raff was already done at that point. But if we're going to cry over spilled beans then we're not getting back the old JFF. Instead aim to make JFF more active. Let Riff-Raff be what it wants to be, focus on contributing on what else we have. Riff-Raff ain't perfect, but nothing is. It's a shitpost board so I'm fine that it is exactly what we expected, a shitpost board. But even in a shitpost board you can make a legendary thread, and everyone loves those rare gems.

But that doesn't mean just Riff-Raff is to blame. Riff-Raff was added then because JFF had it flaws. The board was stale, out of ideas, with 20 user above you threads in a row being common. The limits on the board made this so. So we added Riff-Raff, a more easy going board, with less mods and rules, so that users wouldn't feel limited on the threads they could make as much. Then Riff-Raff turned out to have flaws too, so we simply re-added JFF.

I myself prefer the freedom Riff-Raff offers, but that doesn't mean those that enjoyed JFF should be ignored. For each his own.

Actually, JFF had a lot of it's potential content parted out from it during the creation of the other boards (we where getting rid of it after all). Non-Serious Fandom Talk was moved to Media, Art Threads where moved to Creative, Forum Games and Roleplay Threads where moved to Forum Games, and what was left was just non-artistic Content Creation Threads and Random Threads, the later of which was made into Riff Raff and added a whole ketchup bottles worth of Captain Blubber Spunk. And that combination gave birth to DRAMA. It honestly feels like Middle School all over again in here.

But on the opposite side, I will say Non-Serious Fandom Talk, Non-Artistic Content Creation, and Non-inflamatory Random Threads are still allowed in Just For Fun. Not to mention things like Screencap LP's. And very few people have been doing that.

Hell, you are even allowed to post about other users as long as the topic isn't directly about them or directly inflammatory.

So if you have a problem with Riff Raff, I suggest one very major thing. Boycott it. Take all your activity to Just For Fun, and leave Riff Raff to Rot. It will go past it's boundaries at some point. Make Just For Fun Healthy yourselves, and urge other people to do that as well.

also there is nothing i would rather than jff overtaking riff raff in popularity. this was never intended to be the most popular forum on the site. i was hoping general would take the lead but hindsight is 50/50 lol.

The funniest part about all of this is that this very thread I'm guessing was Blubber's original vision for the board if you've talked to him about it at all. The board has kind of become something else with the userbase of the forums creating a different meaning for it themselves. Blubber wanted a board to get people mad and afraid. He wanted a board that would be this site's equivalent to /b/ and have people staying away from it in droves and getting pissy at it. Ironically enough this thread which turned into a thread where riff raff is bashed is the embodiment of what Riff Raff was meant to be: chaos and people raging over how much they hate the board and wish it would die.

And this is why I personally prefer Riff Raff over JFF. JFF while still hella fun is limited, and Riff Raff's unlimited comedic potential is what makes it so enthralling for me. Sure this also leads to a surplus of trash, but in my eyes the legendary threads make it all worth it, threads that would never be possible if it was still only JFF. At least for the time while I've been on the site JFF has never entertained me more than a few giggles but Riff Raff has had me literally rofling on an almost weekly basis. I love the potential this board has even if it remains mostly untapped. And as I said earlier, while it may seem mean, I see the fact that people turn tail and run and write essay-length posts on why Riff Raff is destroying the site just makes it funnier to me.

And one more thing, Riff Raff does have its limits as people have said. There are actually rules believe it or not and funny enough this thread violates a rule even though RM was hypocritically complaining about Riff Raff getting out of control sometimes in the very thread he made that breaks the rules. This is a thread made for targeting an individual user and making fun of them. And yeah, like RM also said people need to stop making shitposts in general and maintenance. That's pretty obnoxious. It's like 90% Coolface though to be honest.

Why the fuck do people like us have to feel content on leaving a site we actually like and spent a lot of time on just because of some of its inadequacies?

I have been on this site for more than two years. Like Laika said, I have befriended people and have grown fond of the community here. I prefer this site over all of the others that exist, because of what this site is. . I have had a lot of good (and bad) memories here and awesome moments here. And if people are feeling inclined to leave the site, than should it not concern you people to try and fix what would cause people to leave?

If you look at the unpopular opinions thread, I was actually one of the first people to honestly come out and say how I really felt about riff raff and the shitty Don jokes, and shortly after, I got two people to follow me and actually thank me for saying something to try and do something about Riff-Raff and the Don jokes. I told people numerous times to stop spamming and posting the god awful injokes on every fucking entry they get the chance to comment on. Goat-tan and the Don jokes, but what do I get for trying to tell people to stop? They downvote me and tell me to stop being such a fucking buzzkill, and if I keep going at it on all the comment sections, everyone will keep thinking that I'm just an asshole and will most likely ridicule me for actually trying to do something to change peoples shitty behavior on this site. But despite all of that, I at least gone some other users to come out and actually say something, to actually grow a pair and speak out. Is that not something?

It pisses me off when people tell others to do something to change this place yet all that they get is fucking downvotes and attacked by the circle-jerkers who continue to promote the shitty jokes. This thread is hilarious if i do say-so myself as the guy who makes some of the shittiest threads in riff raff.
Anyways, when I first joined the forums my goal was to become the "JFF king". I always aimed at making those instead of RR threads and tried my hardest to defend it. Nowadays I find it one of the most boring places on the site with so much limiting factors and nothing much to do.
Now I find Riffraff as the 2nd best place on the site besides the IRC. Its crazy, vulgar, and full of possibility. Even the injoke circlejerk is fun a lot of the time. Sure a lot of crap is made but even in the crap there is possibility and fun to be had. And honestly if you really whine and complain about riffraff you truly are pathetic, just sit down and have fun make fun of somone, just shitpost. You're really gaining nothing if you contribute with nothing but whining. Make it better by actually making better posts and threads in it.
