To be honest I'm not sure what's supposed to be cringey here. The video trying to make it look like this is a big deal, or the fact Sanders made a goof that, lets be honest, anyone could have made. When it comes to males of Middle Eastern descent specifically, unless they're wearing a turban (which is a common trait in the Sikh religion), I usually can't tell if they're Muslim, Hindu, or "none of the above." Before I stopped going there because of personal reasons, the youth director at my mother's baptist church is a 100% Indian man, but unless you knew that about him chances are good complete strangers might assume he's Muslim or Hindu based on his ethnic background alone.

As annoying as stereotyping can be, lets face it, we all do it to some extent.

YMMV, but the issue I see in it is that he's assuming someone's religion based on racial appearance. Though there's a correlation between ethnicity and religion to an extent, it's still a bit of a git-ish thing to do, similarly to assuming anyone with a tan shade is Mexican. If Trump (who I do not support, mind you) had done the same, you could expect an hour special on last week tonight with John Oliver whining about how "not contemporary" such behavior is. And keep in mind this video is meant to be slight political mocking, not making a legitimate point against Sanders, something I wouldn't need this video for if I wanted to do that.
