I wanted to make this thread to apologize to the denizens of KYM. I have been an extreme dick in getting my points across in the past and I realize that's not entirely necessary. While you are all generally insufferable and completely delusional in your ideals and beliefs (those that I have argued with), that does not mean that I need to stoop to insulting you all to make you understand why you're wrong. So, I'm going to attempt to be a better person because while your skills in debate are as pitiful as a mackerel in the desert sun, you do at least deserve some respect as human beings.

NOTE: This is not an admission of being wrong with my points and views. I'm only saying I've expressed them poorly.

Now, I've always believed in some give and take. Now that I've given the apology, I'm taking the time to tell you all my grievances as kindly as I can.

Taryn: You manage to continuously shoot yourself in the foot every time your previous offense has been forgiven. Every time I think "It's been long enough since Taryn's last fuckup. I'm gonna discuss modship, he's been on good behavior", you manage to do something that makes mods side against you without any room for debate.

A Blind Spy: I shot you a PM asking if you were okay because some of the stuff you said was generally putting yourself down and elevating people above yourself in terms of status. I was worried for your self-esteem and actually wanted to make sure you were alright. You managed to take that concern and turn it into an entire monologue about how great you are and how much I suck. If there's ever been a god of yoga, your autofellatio is testament to his apparent revival. Congratulations.

Epyc Wyn: I know you're reading this because you have the innate ability to cling on long after things have died, so listen up. Being a respected member of a community is a perpetual give and take. All you did was want to take and take and take. You demanded pity when no one was willing to give and got angry even when you gave nothing in return.

Particle Mare: I'm not even sure what your intentions in anything are. I thought you argued something before that you weren't arguing. It turns out that I didn't really understand. Then I realized that your evidence is boring. I have to wonder if you get into arguments with other mods because you don't explain your points well enough (because of boring).

Rikameme: You have this annoying habit of being on a side. That wouldn't normally be wrong, but you defend that side through thick and thin, stupid and even more stupid. You also have this idea that people care about your opinion, so that's definitely a minus.

ShiJo: Thinks I give a damn what he thinks.

Muffinlicious: Total floormat. If a user thinks Vlad the Impaler was cool, you'd have a pole halfway up your ass.

Mnemonic: You're probably not gonna read this ever, but whatever. You're very similar to myself, the difference being that you're always wrong in our debates. Basically, you have no redeeming qualities.

Your idea of "give and take" is half-assedly saying you feel sorry but aren't wrong. Now you think this is somehow justification for continuing with the pointless, aggressive shit-flinging you call arguing? It's apparent to anyone who's been active in these forums that you thrive off irrelevant conflict, and now that your thread was locked you feel the need to make another one. Throwing the word "sorry" into a post doesn't immediately make it redeeming, nor excuse the content of it. You've made a thread to continue to bitch at users; at least have the decency to name such.

doesn't really sell you well when what you actually did was message me two cryptic messages (which left me frankly confused because I had recently dealt with the loss of a job and my twin sister's suicide in the last two months, and thought I kept most of it off the forums) and then turn around and just turn it into more bitching, just in private this time

do you really think I care what some forum mod thinks about me at the end of the day? lol you don't have to agree with anything I say and maybe it's a little salty but even if you don't agree with it, everything has a nugget of truth. maybe it's something you should sit and ponder about instead of thinking, "No, actually, I am right and everyone else is wrong".

Nah my friend, I got real problems, and I think we all do here. We just get caught up in this shit to distract ourselves from it, but honestly, what's the point if you're just going to get caught up in fights and be miserable?

the worst part is that after you give it a week to think about it you're still mad about it… honestly if you wanna know what I did, I took a puff puff, laughed it off and completely forgot about it the next day. Forum drama is lame; if you think that's me being arrogant cool beans but once you learn to be above it and realize its just a fucking memesite then its really not a huge deal.

It just reflects really shitty on you. Thats all. I really genuinely believe that you're having a maturity fart and you'll go back to being an adult again after all this blows over.

I'm apologizing for being a dick, not for my actual arguments. The take was why I felt it was hard to be kind to the specified people. Way to completely miss the point there. I was assuming you were supposed to be impressive, what with your name being brought up for potential modship and all.

First of all, these were my PMs. I wasn't cryptic, nor did I bitch about anything. I was legitimately concerned and checking up on you.

As for the drama, I'm not perpetuating anything. I'm just stating that I was wrong about something and letting people know where I stand. If anything, the offended responses are seeking more drama than I am.

Oh, that was mostly just a jab at myself and Mnemonic in one. Since I dislike Mnemonic's behavior and by extension my own.

I'm not entirely sure we should have threads devoted to apologies. It's focusing too much on one user, and it's not a good precedent for one user to apologize for their transgressions. It could be done on Riff-Raff, but…that's Riff-Raff. I don't think it belongs anywhere else but there, but I don't want to see what happens to it there, so I say it's lockable. But I'll let someone second that…and let them actually lock it because I'm a pansy who fears the sociopathic wrath of Bob I'm going to bed and can't stay up to debate the merit of the thread.
 
That said, I don't have an issue with what Bob is saying. He agreed to be more civil. This is plenty civil. No one has to like the apology or how it's given. It's a sincere apology though if anyone is wondering.

Also, this isn't exactly passive aggressive. This is me apologizing for being a dick and explaining to specific users why I'm a dick to them. I'm not really seeking forgiveness, just setting records straight.

Apology literally means to seek forgiveness.
You are expressing regret for doing the action you are apologizing for.

We can see you're not apologizing, so what are you doing here?

I know you're not very good at arguing, but I'm trying to be a kinder debater. The least you could do is reward me with a little more effort.

The one word not there that I used is forgiveness.

tbf, Google apparently does distinguish between asking for forgiveness and making an apology, the latter being a totally not genuine effort which shouldn't be acknowledged.

The discrepancy is that an apology is a consequence of the regret whereas seeking forgiveness is hoping for atonement. It's very possible for the two to exist without each other, though both those don't usually sit well with people.

The former in a solitary states implies that the person in question is making an effort simply for themselves and not actually concerned with the response of the people around.

The latter in its solitary state is basically trying to fix things without acknowledging that the person is (at the very least) part of the problem.

At least, I think so. Either way, I'm going for the former.

I say this as a friend Bob. You're contradicting yourself. Do you have any ability to publicly be nice? Why is it in order to speak to you like a normal person I have to private message you. You've proven there you have the capacity to be respectful and decent with people you disagree with, so why with these people in public forums do you have to resort to acting like you're in primary school?

I haven't been directly involved in this "debacle", but it sounds like a mountain's been made out of a mole hill. Big time.

Since the moderator himself clearly needs to be redirected to the rules (this whole thing is a disgrace):

Be friendly. We want our forums to be welcoming place for both old and new users. Please keep your comments and posts constructive and considerate in tone. If you observe a user breaking a rule, try advising the user in the right direction instead of posting insults or harsh criticisms. If the user persists, contact a forum moderator.

I wish to draw attention to the words "constructive" and "considerate". Although it's a bit difficult to resolve this kind of situation when the unfriendly party is the forum moderator.

How can someone with the title of "Forum Moderator" genuinely be allowed to even post stuff like this outside of RR and not be subject to any kind of consequence?

Actually, mods are pretty supportive of this, all things considered. Rather than actually judging this at face value as every other user seems to have done, they seem to understand what it is I'm driving at. Maybe there is a reason mods are mods and users are users.

Where exactly have I done anything wrong in this thread? All I did was explain that I was wrong and then tell people why I found it hard to be right to them. Doesn't sound like much of what I did was wrong. Granted, I could have peppered it with compliments, but I saw no reason to. Never really been my style.

As others have pointed out, you spend the vast majority of your alleged apology just insulting other users and explaining why you don't respect them. Maybe you were legitimately just trying to explain why you don't take other users seriously (which is still for me stepping right up to the line), but you had to take the opportunity to showcase your smug sense of superiority over other users. I get that maybe you were really trying to give a apology, but why even try if you're not going to make an attempt to sound sincere, and fill it with "Well I'LL take the high horse over you idiots".

Also has been pointed out, with any other users this would get locked, moved or even warned. We wouldn't stand for this kind of thing with regular users, so I don't know why we shouldn't step in with an actual mod. If you really just HAVE to fill up your apologies with insults, it might as well be just another Riff Raff thread

a unofficial rule i've seen plenty moderators use is no "special snowflake" threads.
even if its not an official rule, moderators would and have locked many threads like this one, all i'm saying is that it seems like a major double standard. also this thread has constantly been off topic by many other users complaining about the thread without contributing and boiling the conversation down to "lol ur stupid and this thread is stupid".
with all considered, even if the special snowflake isn't a rule, derailing is, something should've been done by now.

As for the hypocrisy? Well, I did basically take a potshot at Mnemonic for the same reason, and by extension myself. Also, I did say I would change in this thread. And while users are unable to focus on the criticism, instead choosing to focus on the whole in order to break it down so they don't have to pay attention to it, it was much better than my previous participation in threads; that and my points still stand.

Either way, I'm still curious as to all of your rebuttals since most of you seemed to jump in here without actually reading into anything. It was a disappointment for some of you, given my previous opinions of you people.

Though, not all was lost. Muffin was made happy, Mare managed to continue with a days-old joke, Taryn continued to be able to be Taryn, Blubber provided comedy gold, and NON actually redeemed himself in my eyes in bits. Not bad, all things considered.
