Since summer is coming up I've decided to watch some animes, but being a noob at Japan I haven't a clue what to watch

I irl Friend told me to watch Boku no pico, Assassination classroom and attack on titan and a few irc members telling me to watch Koakuma Kanojo? Megas XLR and Tsundere Maid.

And any good websites to watch it on?

I also recommend watching FLCL to your list.

I would start with the mainstream stuff like Attack on Titan, Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist, Gurren Lagan, and perhaps Soul Eater. Those shows are what got me into anime and it's a pretty good place to start.

As for a more personalized recommendation, what kind of genres do you like as far as TV and movies? Also, how do you feel about fanservice?

As far as sites I have a Crunchyroll membership (as justThisFool mentioned) but if you're looking for a place that's ad free I use TheAnimePlace which has a very nice stream quality. If there's something I can't find on it then I use AnimeNova which doesn't have a nice a quality but has a much broader selection.

My experience with TV is mainly cartoons such as Adventure time, regular show and Steven universe. I really enjoyed Avatar the last air bender .So really I shows with a great storyline and character development and comedy.

Legally, there's Crunchyroll, Hulu (will need a subscription for most series), and, occasionally, Funimation's Youtube channel will have episodes from their various series.

Alternately, there's Anime Freak, Watch Cartoons Online, and my preferred outlet since I'm a heretical dubist, JustDubs

The more popular animes, like Pokemon, One Piece, or Attack on Titan also have their own sites devoted just to that series.

Don't even bother watching Boku no Pico unless you want your eyes to burn.

Ok based on that I would recommend you start with Soul Eater or Fullmetal Alchemist (not Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood). I'd say Soul Eater is probably the better of the two and both of them can be found on Netflix if you have it. If not then you can watch it at one of the several links posted by others. Soul Eater does have a small amount of fan service but it's pretty minimal (maybe once every few episodes).

I recommend Watamote. It's about this highschool girl with severe social anxiety problems. She comes up with all these schemes to become popular, but just winds up making a fool of herself in front of everybody, which makes her social anxiety worse. It's a comedy!

If you have the chance, I would highly recommend Neon Genesis Evangelion. It's a pretty good mecha anime.

As a weeb I'd recommend Boku no Pico Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun. It's quite humorous and relaxing to watch, if that's what you're going for.

If you're starting out with anime in general and want recommendations, there's this chart that can give you a idea of the many ideas anime has to offer. I'm not a huge fan of streaming, and I encourage you to torrent, if you want the audio and video quality to be at its best; if torrenting isn't your thing, you can use Kiss Anime it's the best streaming site out there, since the anime on there don't look like they were captured with Bandicam. I did link the chart, but I will give some series to watch if you don't know where to start; Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is one of the best to start out with, based on your current taste: the storyline is one of the best in its demographic, characters are well developed and are relevant to the plot and there is some comedy throughout the story. Rurouni Kenshin and Hunter x Hunter are some other anime that are similar to Brotherhood; though with Rurouni Kenshin, the last season is nothing but filler, so if you want a complete story, then read the manga. HxH is currently on hiatus due to the manga being on hiatus as well. Kill la Kill is good as well if you want some good, mindless, action; plus it's also fun to watch. Also Evangelion is a definite must watch for anyone. Once you watch enough anime or feel that you're ready, I recommend Legend of the Galactic Heroes. It may be long (110 OVA series), but it is a definite masterpiece, no argument.

For starters, I'd recommend something like Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo. If you want something absolutely over the top, I'd suggest Gurren Lagann or JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is pretty good, mixture of serious shonen, comedy, and good character developments, so you'll probably like it. Also has a decent english dub so yeah.

Baccano! is really good. Set in the US, and has one of the best english dubs, I'll say watch this dub instead of sub.

For something with less comedy, I'll go with Psycho Pass. Very serious show about serious subjects. Also Twenty-One's favorite.

You could also try RWBY, which is an anime-inspired series made by Rooster Teeth. Also they are making some kind of official Japanese dub with it (with like Japanese voice actors so yeah.).

Also do you play video games? Log Horizon is pretty good for fans of MMORPGs. Nails a lot of those elements quite well.

The only one you need to watch is JoJo.

Same with Crimeariver, I recommend watching the mainstream ones first too like:

-Cowboy Bebop
-Gurren Laggan (There's some fan service but it's only in some few episodes)
-Code Geass (There's some fanservice there too but I still recommend it)
-Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
-Neon Genesis Evangelion (Now that I look back on it, there's alot of fan service but it's a really great anime)
-Trigun (I don't know if it's mainstream but it's still awesome)
-Samurai Champloo
-Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (You have to watch the movie and understand the universe first)
-Death Note
-Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood

I would recommend watching Flcl but you have to know some more animes to understand the references, because there's quite a lot in there.

Hmm… this is gonna be a hard one.

For starter anime, Attack on TItan and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood are good choices. While I haven’t watched them, I’ve heard that Studio Ghibli films (ex. Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro) are good gateways to anime.

If you wanna see an anime with over-the-top action, check out Gurren Lagann or Hellsing Ultimate (though Hellsing Ultimate is pretty gory).

Speaking of familiarity with western shows and a preference for comedy…I wouldn’t consider this a good recommendation, especially to people unfamiliar with anime, but Panty & Stocking comes to mind. The art style is like that of western cartoons, and it’s also a comedy (though it’s mostly vulgar humor). However, it’s also fanservicey, so you probably won’t like it. Still, it’s my second favorite anime, (the first being Gurren Lagann, and the third being Hellsing Ultimate) and I’d recommend watching it once you’ve gotten familiar with other anime. Also, the show has a great dub; I'd recommend watching it over the sub.

Space Dandy’s a pretty funny comedy series.

As for sites, I like Kissanime. It’s got both dubs and subs (though some dubs might not be available), and there aren’t any video ads. Also, the ads on there aren’t obtrusive, and can be hidden by a button below them, so you can disable adblock on there (the site has an anti-adblock script, but considering what I said, you don’t really need to use adblock on there).
Animehaven's also a good site with high-quality streams.

I can easily name off a bunch of favorite anime, but really, my taste can be different than yours.
Of course, you can always go for the popular ones. They're usually easy to find. But, I recommend reading their manga counter parts, if they have one. Most popular shows based of manga have tons of filler episodes. Episodes not cannon to the story and just giving time for the mangaka to finish up with their story and such before animators get to it.

I would recommend Jojo's Bizarre Adventures, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. I can also say, Dragonball till the end of Frieza Saga. Bakemonogatari is good in my opinion, but again, it might not suit your taste. Mobile Suit Gundam, G Gundam, and Gundam Build Fighters Try are a few others that might interest you. A currently airing anime, Ore Monogatari, is very cute and sweet. Tenchi Muyo, is a classic to me. Kill la Kill if you like characters more than the plot.Gunbuster for two girls piloting the (formal) biggest mecha and taking on a bunch of aliens with awesome kicks and beam attacks. Getter Robo Armageddon for crazy art style, with hot blooded action, and loud screaming.

Really, anime comes down to what you like. Take all the information you've gathered in this forum and watch 3 episodes of each series. Usually, by the third episode, it will catch your attention.
If nothing catches your fancy, try to find an anime that seems interesting to you and try it out yourself.

Angel Beats!, Spice and Wolf, Monogatari Series, Kekkai Sensen, Kara no Kyoukai , Fate UBW and Fate Zero. Oh, and Carnival Phantasm if you liked the Typu-Moon franchise.

Mawarun Penguindrum is also a good choice.

Edit: Right, Wolf Children is another good choice as well. And (fucking) Ninja Scroll.

Steins;Gate

No fanservice (Minus 2 scenes for like 2 seconds), great story, great animation, great voice acting (both sub and dub), great characters, and no weird chibi facial expressions.

Only problem is that things don't kick off till around episode 11ish I think, but is still an amazing anime all around. I also here the movie is pretty good too.

Fullmetal Alchemist is a really good series. I should also mention that it has a great finale. (I'm not gonna spoil it, of course)

I actually would have recommended you watch the first Fullmetal Alchemist before you watched Brotherhood since Brotherhood kind of rushes through the first few episodes to get to the point where the stories diverge.

I'm new to anime, and I found it quite easy to get into JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, I reccomend that for sure.

I'm generally new to anime myself. All of the shows I've watched are on my profile here on this site and I've enjoyed every single one of them.

Neon Genesis Evangelion being my least favorite so far and Future Diary being my absolute favorite.

It all depends on the type of shows you want to watch. Watching a good comedy like My Bride is a Mermaid is a refreshing change of pace after getting my mindfucked by Bakemonogatari.

As for where I watch mine, I use KissAnime. Its free and you don't even need to make an account.

Monster?

I definitely wouldn't recommend monster as an introduction to anime. Sure, it's very good, but it's also very slow paced which isn't exactly the best representation of most anime out there. That's why I suggested he starts with some of the main stream stuff.

I've seen this before but Rei with the bubble rod still gets a laugh out of me.

Koakuma Kanojo is definitely worth watching
