I love that 3D robot, he could be his own show just chilling every other aggro robot down and playing sick anime for them. He's like a robot version of Sans. Post about your experiences with Toonami old and new. nostalgia's all over the place

That was my TV segment back in 1997. I watched Ocean Dub's DBZ and the original Sailor Moon. It took my 6 year old self a few episodes to get into Gundam Wing because it was heavily Seinen and not Shounin. I did the college male's impression of squealing like a school girl when Toonami was revived. Will definitely sit down to watch every airing of Samurai Jack when it comes out.
Alright story time:
>be me
>It's the early 2000's
>my parents hired a shitty cable service with only 8 channels
>one of those channels it's CN
>you start to watch a good chunk of cartoons
>but then you realize CN had a programming block with some animu shows starting midnight
>Gundam Wing, Rurouni Kenshin, DBZ, Trigun, Yu Yu Hakusho, Saint Seya, etc. And everything was great (and the dubbing was also pretty good tho.)
>but then in 2008 everything stopped
>my parents can't pay the cable anymore
>and you had to deal to buy Pirate disc to get some animu (or even worse)
>by that time, the dark ages of CN started
>no more animu, no more cartoons, only stupid live-action shows now
>and the good ol' T.O.M rest in silence
>flashforward 2013
>by that time I'm on KYM, with another shitty TV cable system but with Internet
>KYM notices the good ol' T.O.M comes back from the deadly silence and the Internet is rejoicing his return: from the forbidden lands of /co/ to the wooden circlejerck of /r/anime, everyone was happy and excited too
>Space Dandy, FMA: Brotherhood, Gurren Langann, Black Lagoon, Kill la Kill, the new and classic animus and cartoons returned (and he even make Samurai Jack return too), with the blessings of the high definition and their new home: adult swim
>I look at CN again to see how it's going. I spotted some new and weird cartoons, some crappy live-action shows (and movies too), and more commercials. I see everything, except the good ol' T.O.M
>Everytime I turn the TV at midnight and I don't see him…I would like to think he's somewhere with his ship, moving at the rhythm of a space lion…
…
Yeah that pretty much describes my experience with Toonami on the majestic and byoutiful lands of Latin America.
I guess to talk about my old experience with Toonami: I always found the block to be intriguing, because it just looked so different from anything else on Cartoon Network. I remember watching shows like Dragon Ball, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Teen Titans, and (only) the first episode of Naruto. TOM was always a cool-looking robot, and it's nice to know that even back then, I liked hearing Steve Blum. TOM 3.0 was always my favorite (at least until TOM 5.0 came in).
Anyways, flash forward to this year, and I'm still just as intrigued. I really enjoy that Toonami is showing Samurai Champloo, as it's one of my favorite anime (Interestingly, they'd originally planned to show Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine [kinda to tie it with Michiko & Hatchin, since they both have the same director I suppose], but since Fujiko would be too… problematic to air, they instead opted for Champloo). Every Saturday midnight I tune in to watch Akame Ga Kill, Parasyte, and now Champloo. For Sentai dubs, they seem alright.
TL;DR: Toonami's great, Steve Blum is great.
