Found about this yesterday. Thought it was some kind of cruel joke. After the proper verifications, I realized that he gets to do two movies for both sides of the coin.
Everybody is happy. Everybody wins.

He gets to continue arguably the most unique/enjoyable series in superhero films while preemptively saving its biggest shitshow in its second outing by probably making it into a really good movie. The Guardians wannabe actually getting helmed by the guy that made the Guardians matter.
We inexplicably might have just been dropped into the best possible outcome for this situation.
