i remember loving the show when i was a kid.
decided to watch an episode for old time's sake, and holy crap, the show is BETTER than i remember!
it really is a timeless comedy, and some might say even ahead of its time.

just look how they managed to perfectly stretch out a joke for the course of almost 4 scenes,

Yeah, I see what you mean. But you left out the best part where they get home to discover Walter's naked, lubed up corpse asphyxiated under a massive pile of grapefruits. That's where the payoff really comes in.
