What are your biggest "comfort" songs or genres?

I don't really care if this is a fairly generic question, I'm still curious.

For me it's quite a bit of early to mid 00s rock music, particularly alternative rock, pop-punk, and emo. A lot of it has to do with this being music I feel really shaped me in some fashion, helping me to just really feel emotions I have a hard time expressing myself (well more so I have difficulty expressing them IRL). Play me stuff like Remedy by Cold , Diary of Jane by Breaking Benjamin , or I'm Not Okay by My Chemical Romance and fuck dude, I'm back to being a Hot Topic teen again.

I don't know how it does it, I don't know why it does it, but for some reason, Dschinghis Khan's Moskau puts me in a good mood. Thinking about it, I first discovered this song when I watched one of Thumbsupmaster's videos regarding the many references that the Banjo-Kazooie series has to offer (specifically, part 2 of his Cameos series, which sadly no longer uses the song due to copyright issues). Perhaps it's all about nostalgia? Could it be.

The entire Chasing Hamburg album by The Polar Bear Club. I had never heard of this band before when I was first living on my own. But I remember walking through Sam Goody and there was only one CD in stock. So I took a risk and bought it and was blown away by the first track.

As stated before, every song on this record is great. But three stick out to me the most:

But beyond that, there was House Boat and their stuff really hits too close to the heart in terms of being jaded and getting old. Especially when one song is literally called Now we are 31.

Nowadays dark folk be getting best of myself. Colter Wall scratches a particular itch, and I do come back the 00's pop punk scene once in a while. Both New Found Glory and Less Than Jake, especially.

I'm not really into J-pop or the like, but I really like Your Affection from the Persona 4 soundtrack. It's just the kind of song that gets me in a good mood.

Other than that, I tend to enjoy music from the 80s and 90s. Nostalgia is a big factor. One example is Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer. I remember not liking it when I was a kid, but nowadays it brings me back to my childhood and I love it for it.

I'm late to this thread but Pre-eoc runescape tracks are pretty good. Unfortunatley, they are mostly hard to find anything outside of this youtube video. (which I beleve is all F2P music, so its missing membership music)

Many of the other tracks made before they reochestraded the music in RS3, and Pre-eoc tracks are usually a different variant from the OSRS tracks. Jagex doesn't really have a place where all the pre-eoc tracks can be found and they are scattered all over youtube. Some Pre-eoc music even still exists in RS3, such as Sea Shanty 1 and Down Below.

As a side note, it's also very unfortunate that Ian Taylor, the composor of most of the popular tracks in Runescape was arrested for assaulting an underage girl. He was sentanced to 22 months in prison for that.

I was too late to edit my last post but if someone actually comes along looking for pre runescape 3 music, that same youtuber Manpaint who compiled that Nostalgia Suite video probably has the entire collection of songs on a playlist (over 800 songs long). I've seen that one video many times but I did not know they had a likely complete playlist of songs

To me, many of those tracks were the definitive edition of the songs that played.

I've been trying out this whole spotify thing and I ended up finding Good Kid as one of the bands that consistently make music I like.

Guilty Gear music is like crack for my ears and I love every last second of it, plus it helps me with anger build up when I combine it with a game that I use for stress relief.

Everytime when i want a bit of rest i like to put up some Jazz, especially Bluesette by Toots Thielemans

the genres i always return to are classic House tracks and Electro Swing.

For me the most comfy album is I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One by Yo La Tengo.
(I Tried posting a YouTube link but it didn't work)
Also stuff like Tindersticks, Townes Van Zandt, Sufjan Stevens or Belle and Sebastian which has quite sad sombre atmosphere.

If I could pick a particular artist discography, that would be Iglooghost. Do you ever want to know what breakcore would sound like if it was made by thousands of Pikmin? Then say no more. Here are some of my favorite single tracks.

But if I had to say the emotional soundtrack from them is Lei Line Eon. I couldn’t help but to cried every time I’m listen to it.

I don't have a genre I like but I have plenty of songs.
Gonna give a short life story here so get ready.
I'm an epileptic and occasionally I'd throw up when I had seizures. I had three servings of a big meal that, shortly after I took my medicine. When I went to bed my medicine was still only partly digested. My Mom checked on me to make sure I was fine but she was skeptical so she checked on again and found me during a sleep seizure choking on my own vomit. I was rushed to the hospital where they pumped my lungs. I was already unconscious but they put me in a medically induced coma for several days. They took out of it but I stayed unconscious but finally woke up with no idea what had happened. I had to stay for several more days but as soon as my Mom started driving me home, I had her play "Tubthumping" by "Chumbawamba".
