southern yeehaw's Soy Boy Wojak spam

"it's not spam, it's mass uploading"
that's what is called spam.

everytime i go to any fucking pages of KYM now, I see those pictures.

you want an example ?
I just went right now to the PS5 page talking about the design of the console.
then I saw that :

every fucking time.

some people say "just ignore it". but how can you ignore it if it's everywhere ?

of all the pictures just from the 1st page, only 2 were not from soyjak meme (if you call that a meme), and for the soyjak pics, only 2 were not posted by "southern yeehaw", but by "artichoke".
and while the ones posted by southern yeehaw are hot garbage, the ones posted by artichoke are okay, like this one :

you may not like it but at least this one has way more effort than any other posts from southern yeehaw.

I have nothing against the "meme" (even if I don't like it personally), but the constant spamming of those pictures is actually polluting so much that you see those pictures constantly, even when you're not on the soy boy page.

this is a serious problem as the vast majority of the people here don't come to see soy boy memes, but want to see all the memes/articles/pictures, and doing what he does doesn't help the website at all.

you may argue that this happens everytime something is trending, which is true.
but the difference is that the soyjak pictures are only trending because they are massively spammed everyday by 1 individual, not because people are actually interested in this.

eventually, in the future, members of KYM are gonna leave the website just for shitposts like this, and this is hurting the website and its community.
I'm not asking for a ban, BUT, something have to be done about this.
I leave you finding the best answer to this.
spoiler alert : just waiting that he runs out of shitting pictures is not the best answer.
especially if he is the one creating them, and considering the very low quality and very low effort, this could be the case.

there's a difference between "documenting a meme a lot" (which is good) and just spamming shit (which is bad).
in the second case, you are just posting any random shit you could find with the excuse of "it's just for the sake of documenting", while the first case, you are only posting what is worth posting.
the difference is that in one case, everything you posted is never gonna be used or searched, especially if the quality is so low that you could make new people flee from it, and in the second case, everything you posted are gonna have mostly good reactions, are gonna be used, are gonna opening discussions, whatever.

considering that the only pictures southern yeehaw enters in the second category, while some posted by others (like the ones by artichoke) enter in the first category, for me the only problem with this page is the constant spamming of southern yeehaw.

I have nothing against this person, but what he does, if he continues doing what he does, is gonna hurt KnowYourMeme as a whole, especially if moderators don't do any shit about this.

When the KYM users will start to leave because that kind of things happen and happen again, this will be the beginning of the end of KYM.

Yes, everything has an end, but this would be really sad to finish on this just because of one guy, just saying.

KnowYourMeme is not your trash can, southern yeehaw.

lolwut? You think a few dozen soyjaks would cause a mass exodus from this site? You're overreacting in the extreme.

Also, Artichoke's quality isn't that far off from my soyjaks. In fact, one of them is an exact re-post of one uploaded by me. You just want the soyjaks gone so you can look at more softcore furry porn, don't you?

just scroll down

Solution – Upload limits that are dictated by a users time spent on the site and their roles/titles/whatever the hell these are, ex. a new users gets about 10 images to post daily while a scrapbooker gets like 50.
Other than that, getting upset over a poorly drawn bald man seems like a personal problem

The same memes posted several times is far more important than the same fanart posted several times. Though southern yeehaw's uploads sometimes have near-copies, he contributes heavily in a meme gallery, which is more than what some of the complainers have done.

It's an actual meme with related examples to the proper gallery. Spam? No. Flooding? Maybe. Could be a quality control issue mostly. OP's examples are pretty low effort. True low-effort is like this Sailor Moon edit:

There definitely needs to be some cleanup amongst his uploads to remove stuff like lookalikes or low-effort copy paste, but honestly most of his uploads are fine. There are quality GIF examples in there which I wouldn't want to disallow. If he has a good enough sense of what "low effort" content is and applies some quality control to his uploads, this is immediately a non-issue.

Disallowing someone to use the site to upload examples of a popular meme just because some users dislike the meme sets a bad standard. To put it into perspective, there is more meme in this single image:

Than 90% of the fanart that gets mass upvoted.

As long as southern yeehaw is warned not to do it again, I'll be fine with the image cleanup on low-effort copies and lookalikes he flooded.

"There definitely needs to be some cleanup amongst his uploads to remove stuff like lookalikes or low-effort copy paste, but honestly most of his uploads are fine."
probably less than 50% actually.

"If he has a good enough sense of what "low effort" content is and applies some quality control to his uploads, this is immediately a non-issue."
well, that's what we asked him to do a few days ago already.
the creation of this topic is a proof that he didn't do it.
and he still continued even after the creation of this topic.

"Disallowing someone to use the site to upload examples of a popular meme just because some users dislike the meme"
like I said, I'm not asking for a ban.
and, at least in my case, liking or disliking a meme doesn't change anything actually.
for example : when someone actually started to massively spam with furry porn on the furry page, I gently asked him to stop doing this as he may have problems (and he got banned), despite liking furry posts myself (I even have a furry avatar, just saying).
it just happened in this present case to be on a low effort meme, which is the worst kind of memes IMO.
but it would have been on anything else, smash bros, helltaker, doge, femboys, or any other random memes, I would have reacted the same way.

"Though southern yeehaw's uploads sometimes have near-copies, he contributes heavily in a meme gallery, which is more than what some of the complainers have done."
I will not talk about the others, but in my case, I regularly post pictures and videos on memes.
but in comparison with southern yeehaw, I only post them when I think those are necessary to post, and I even create some of them myself, which can take me an hour or more for some. while southern yeehaw will post 20 times the same shitty picture he found on 4chan in 1 hour.
I personally prefer quality over quantity.
also, I post a lot on meme pages, which is also a part of the contribution.

When someone is creating a Lag Machine on a Minecraft server, technically he respect the rules and is not cheating, but what he does is still shit.
When portuguese football players fake being hurted by opponents to get a penalty and actually get it without being spotted by the referee, technically they respect the rules, but everyone will agree that this is bullshit.

Well, that's the same idea here.
southern yeehaw may "respect the rules", but is this worth it ?

I'm all about pacific solutions, but southern yeehaw has to make some efforts too.

probably less than 50% actually.

That is subjective. These are Wojaks, so of course there will be some mediocre ones some find good and others bad. But eh, we don't need to agree there.

like I said, I'm not asking for a ban.

We have someone else asking the gallery to be locked. I'm replying in general.

Basically the point I was making. Different memes appeal to different people. I genuinly enjoy random memes like Coomer, but they get massive amounts of flack amidst the users. Neither wojaks nor regular fanart memes are disallowed, and we're not planning to favour one over the other. That said, I love the Mareep meme.

If someone started flooding the Helltaker gallery with Modeus, I would ask them to spread it out at best if complaints started flooding in but I would never disallow it.

I will judge them for their inferior taste regardless.

Lucifer best girl.

Hence I repeat: If he has a good enough sense of what "low effort" content is and applies some quality control to his uploads, this is immediately a non-issue.

What he does with this is up to him.

this is my first time posting in the forums. i'm just really annoyed because i like browsing the main image gallery and it's making that impossible. i'd like to go back to being able to use the site normally. sometimes there are mass uploads when a new entry gets made or if there's a resurgence of a particular meme, but this isn't that, imo. it's completely unnecessary.

i genuinely don't even mind the meme itself but it's taking over everything else. it feels like it's been weeks on end of wading knee-deep through soyjaks while i'm trying to find genuinely funny memes. i hope something is done about it.

i checked the rules but if there's one about bumping slightly old threads, sorry about that. i must have missed it.

lmfao
We never punished him for posting soyjaks
he got suspended for being inflammatory for other users
and then alted to evade it, which resulted in his ban
his soy boy face images have nothing to do with it, threatening to post them makes zero sense.

This dude needs to chill out

The mods weren’t even mean, if the users had it our way he’dve been banned days ago

i guess i don't care why he was banned, i'm glad it's over with. but in the future imo there should be something to prevent the extended flooding of galleries like that. i'm aware it's difficult to make a concrete rule against seeing as they were posted in the appropriate gallery. maybe just moderator discretion, though thats a potentially bad precedent to set as well. just spitballing ideas.

point is, glad it's over.

Is this some kind of copypasta?
I don't want to believe someone spent so long because they got banned for being an asshole.

This whole situation reminds me of a guy I knew on Discord that would send me shitty wojak edits every other day for like a year and a half, he could never take a fucking hint. Also that nursery rhyme is absolutely painful to read.

I heavily disagree. If it's a meme, is getting appropriately titled, tagged, and uploaded to the correct gallery, it should not be punished.

Personally I think the problem is that the gallery at the bottom of every page shows the latest images, instead of the trending ones. The trending images page would be a much better choice for the userbase, since it lines up with the community's interests, while the latest images gallery just shows whatever has been uploaded, so if someone's mass uploading, the userbase will see it and will react. This entire situation could've been avoided had the gallery at the bottom of every page been the trending one instead of the new images one

Now that he's banned and everything's back to normal, will there be a cleanup on low-effort copypastas of the Soy Boy Wojak images southern yeehaw flooded?
