IP blocks. Like they do on wikis.
Mods and IP bans (a determined troll will easily circumvent this). We may need mods in different countries to take the night shift. That way the trolls get banned faster.
If we're really concerned, ban all open proxies. A little extreme, sure, but if the situation calls for it. Can the trolls still get around this? Sure. But it's slightly more difficult, and most trolls are lazy. The mods will take care of any that are persistent.
Of course, this all depends on the developers. If they're busy with a more crucial update, then we need to be patient and understanding. They have a lot of work to do, and whining about it just makes their job harder.
All in due time.
There are plenty of trolls that are incapable of using proxies.
Which makes the mods' jobs easier.
I always have trouble telling the difference between trolls and just plain annoying people.
We have IP bans.
If there is a user that deserves to be IP Banned, please report the incident to me. If it is urgent and I don't respond, try Brad Kim, Captain Blubber, Yatta, Jamie, or Greg, in that order.
Lolrus makes a great point. Telling the difference between a troll and an annoying person isn't easy. We allow all kinds of annoying users. A certain degree of trolling is permitted.
Some might interpret completely changing your username and avatar a form of trolling. Some might interpret making hundreds of posts in a thread trolling. It happened all the time before we had JFF.
The thing is, if that trolling is happening inside JFF, it's got to be pretty serious before a user will be banned.
A lot of warnings have been given out lately. Warnings are given privately, so you may not see the discipline happen, rest assured that it's happening. If the user doesn't choose to change their behavior, they can be banned. And yes, again, they are IP bans.
What is the policy concerning banned users making new accounts?
Staying on topic: Shouldn't some accounts be deleted after not using it after lemmesay 1 year. I mean: there are tons of 'brand new' accounts who's purpose it was to create a stupid meme entry, or to make one lame thread.
@MemeDude
I think that's a good idea, but based on the amount of contributions a member has posted.
Like, if they've posted five confirmed memes or more, they should stay, even after a year.
5 confirmed memes is alot dave :D. Let's atleast pick the ones out who act like the following 'members':
https://knowyourmeme.com/users/lolwut
https://knowyourmeme.com/users/tostadora
https://knowyourmeme.com/users/grrrrl
https://knowyourmeme.com/users/dwkinney
You see what I mean?
you realize there is a way to change IP without proxys
heres the link hurry and tell me when to delete
http://whatismyipaddress.com/staticpages/index.php/how-do-I-change-my-ip-address
any other intersting trolls
My idea is account deletion for users inactive for a period of three months.
This only applies to users with less than 50 contributions.
Actually, Real Genius, I seen that a lot of random users have submitted confirmed memes with only 1 contribution.
@Biotic
Do they ever come back?
seems like he was followed by a troll this guy check his wall
tehbishop
Troll already b&.
seems like he was an annoying troll
A nice, speedy ban for that troll.
@ Real Genius
Some might, but some over the course of three months.
UPDATE: H Hessy has been banned for giving a new user the ever dreaded "ASCII finger".
Oh my.
What the fa**uk.
Ok. For those who read my posts (that's right, all both of you), don't confuse me with being a troll. I mean, sure, I enjoy trolling, but I like this site too much to purposely troll. /b/sides, that's what omegle's for :)
And for those of us who are ready to flame me for this, just dont worry bout it, k?
Well its sorta expected, anonymous is never the forgiving hand.
Edit

And on top of that, they may view this site as like "WTF, these guys are meme deciders?".

Double edit: I am saying from a pov of view earlier.
Hey now, we shouldn't "ban" inactive users. I mean sure, if it's like a year fine, but I wouldn't be here if we got banned for a period of 3 months. My computer has trouble doing what it's supposed to, and breaks about twice every three years. My computer broke twice this year, and I vanished after both. It takes a week or two to get fixed, and when you get it back, KYM isn't always the first thing you think of. It actually took me 2 weeks to realize I hadn't been on here for months. That said, I think a year is understandable.
i got banned 4 trolling. there was a form named THE BEST so i went to it and trolled THE BEST like 100 times or so. one day i tried to log on and it took me a week to relies i got banned after i checked my email. i lerned my lesson lol
Yes. Could you please remove it? You posted on my article WHEN I WAS
Thank you.

Not true
It also happened to Hector and ANN HIRO.
Thanks for the clarification, broseph(s) ;_;
