This one is pretty self explanatory based on the title. I know it's been mentioned in passing before but I do sincerely think we should have something other than a spoiler thumbnail to put of potentially seizure inducing gifs. Another solution would be to just not have gifs play in thumbnails and instead only play once you click on them.

Yeah, we need this. Currently we use NSFW tags (I think), but that doesn't stop them from clicking on it. I would feel really bad if this site caused someone to have a seizure.

They really shouldn't. We try constantly to keep our society more safe. We don't want people to die. I noticed how you brought up skateboarding. That is why people who do that wear: Helmets, Knee Guards, Elbow Guards, Shin Guards, And Protective Gloves. This is taking things to an extreme, but it seems that you would not want seatbelts or safety rails because they will probably die anyway. Back to the tag problem, we ALREADY tag the epilepsy warning as a NSFW or Spoiler. This would actually make it better because epilepsy tags would not be as common, allowing for smoother surfing of the image gallery.

Honestly, if these kind of pictures are already tagged NSFW, I don't see how changing them to "Epilepsy Warning" makes the gallery harder to browse. Not only that, but for many people who don't have Epilepsy, these pictures still hurt their eyes.

In regards to your "Dude, lots of things kill people" comment, yeah, there is a whole debate over "Freedom vs Safety" but getting rid of all safety in favor of absolute freedom is as insane and horrible as the opposite. Seriously, is it that much of a sacrifice that you would have to click an image that should already be tagged in the first place to see the image if it stops be from dying from a seizure?!

Again, there is a difference between triggering a phobia and triggering Epilepsy. i don't think you really understand seeing how you think Phobias and SJW Triggering are comparable to Seizures. The Former are just upsetting to the person, the latter causes of serious physical response.

I would say 4% is a reasonable amount to have epilepsy tags. And if 50,000 people a year die from it, we need tags. There are a lot of people who have epilepsy, and I don't want people to die.

We don't have filters, and from the looks of it, won't be getting filters. Deal with it. For the time being, we need to hide these images with an epilepsy warning and not wait until a filter we probably won't get is implemented.

In regards to the pictures (Which is such an Ad hominem it's hilarious that you are trying to use that as an argument) The first one was tagged by a mod, not me, the second one is NSFWish and I decided to tag it to be sure, and the third is spoiler warning because, if you look at the comments, someone informed me that the thumbnail in the image gallery spoiled the surprise, so I put a spoiler warning.

Derpy, most of these images that would be tagged with epilepsy warning are already tagged NSFW, and people with Epilepsy do want to go about a normal life, so they would use the internet, albeit with caution. I've visited porn sites that have seizure tags, it's not that tall an order.

If you want to argue for a filter, be my guest, we already argued for one, and the answer we got is that they way the site is set up, we would need too many servers to hold each persons preference. What we are talking about here is a choice between dressing a wound and waiting for medical equipment that's never going to arrive and letting the wound bleed out and fester.

Here's my suggestion for the new warning icon, since I'm SURE, KYM won't take a blind eye to this: have the normal spoiler icon but make both eyes spirally and make one red and the other blue.

Staying on topic, if seizure tags are going to happen, we're going to need to have combination images in case it's epilepsy warning and nsfw and/or spoiler. We already have one in case it's nsfw and a spoiler.

Epilepsy could be DBZA's "Seizure procedure" or as someone said earlier, Red and Blue Spiral Eyes. Or maybe a Porygon, since the unfortunate pokemon has forever been associated with it.

In the meantime, let's discuss what is considered an epilepsy trigger.

Between 3-30 hertz (flashes per second) are the common rates to trigger seizures but this varies from person to person. While some people are sensitive at frequencies up to 60 hertz, sensitivity under 3 hertz is not common.

We don't have to put an exact marker on it. Flashing lights or images of any kind at high speed could potentially cause a seizure, so I think the third one should be tagged as well. According to Epilepsy.com, contrast with background lighting helps trigger the seizure, and is most likely to occur at 5 to 30 flashes per second, both the third one has. I'd say if it has bright colorful flashing images at over 5 flashes per second, it should be tagged.

Seeing how this whole idea is to prevent a physical and dangerous response, we should be on the safe side. We aren't doctors and neither is most of the people posting images so we shouldn't try to skirt the line too much with the technicalities. Simple criteria are always better.
