…What is it?

Over several websites, many make meta jokes, self-referential memes, and poking fun at themselves. So this is simply me attempting to understand why meta memes are apparently banned except for a select few entries on this site. I don't see what harm they pose to this website. A kind, detailed explanation would be much appreciated.

Meta jokes are perfectly allowed, they just have to be in the KYM entry because they are KYM jokes. The site is supposed to be a documentation site with the purpose of allowing people to learn and understand certain memes and having half the gallery of "Gru's Plan" filled with KYM in jokes non-regulars can't understand runs counter to that.

Would this image

make sense to anyone other than an old KYM regular? Then why would I put it in the Ed, Edd, n'; Eddy or Reaction Image entry where it will just confuse people coming into this site trying to figure out what Reaction Images are or want to look at funny EEnE memes?

Other websites are not treated as a serious an objective source of information in the same way KYM is. The New York Times and the the BBChave cited us in articles.

This would be comparable to the people who helped to write and edit the Oxford Dictionary allowing for injokes the writers found funny to end up in the actual published definitions of words.

We made those other entries you mentioned so that users can still have their fun while also trying to make clear to any people not "in the loop" that it isn't really more than a site injoke and it should not be taken seriously when compared to actual memes that started in no relation to the site.
