Seriously, there's spambot posts EVERYWHERE on the site. Some of them take days to get deleted. They've been around for years and years now and seemingly nothing has been done to stop them. What's the deal?

Can we get some kind of spambot protection?

I'm pretty sure there's already a CAPCHA on account creation. Apparently that isn't stopping the bots.

I would like to experiment with putting newly created accounts under some kind of probationary period where they are unable to post for a certain time after account creation. Nothing too long, maybe like 3 days to a week something that would at least slow down bots and porn-spammers.
I don't know if that's too draconian though. Personally I think that a little bit of lurking is good but we might also scare away new members.

There was one not too long ago that was dormant for 3 weeks before it started putting up ads
