So I've seen something used on some sites where instead of like/dislikes the site uses a reaction to something ie disagree, agree, informative, garbage, etc
and I think something like that works far better

Im sure it exists elsewhere but the only other site Ive seen do this is Newgrounds.

Not really. People still use reactions as surrogates for likes & dislikes. All you'd be doing is adding more options rather than improving the function/user behaviour. 99% of "I don't like this/this is bad" votes would be "garbage" in your example.

Exactly. It wouldn't change a thing. Then again, it won't happen anyway since spaghetti code.
