If you could adapt any game into a movie, how would you do it? Who would you cast, what changes would you make, what would you cut, and what would the first five minutes be like?

There's a somewhat obscure but wonderful game called Sunless Sea which is set in a Lovecraftian underground London and (as the name implies) a vast sunless sea, complete with pirates, sea monsters, and of course madness (no Lovecraftian themed work would be complete without it).
I don't really know the details of how I would do it, since it's a bit of a sandbox game, but there's a shit ton of lore to work with and not to mention the potential for some excellent visuals.
As for cast, I would have to cast Sean Connery as the lead simply because of his mastery of sea captain roles and amazing accent.
I swear Wipeout's backstory is deep enough to made into the store. The Wipeout Central Timeline has at least 1000 words worth of story plucked from 90's magazines and game manuals. For a game so obscure.
Wipeout 2048 is actually far more adaptable comparing to the other sequels taking place like 2161, 2207 A.D. wheres 2048 feels more close to today. To put it on context:
I can pretty much smell the future.
Contra, I would just rip off predator to some extent and maybe take parts of all the contra games.

If i could make a HL2 movie, the combine choppers would be modified hinds and morgan freeman would be Eli vance.
Fallout 3. Just because I loved the storyline so much and it's fairly linear.
It's probably just follow the main quests because most of the others are so out of the way, but maybe with some extra focus on exploring the local vaults.
And Liam Neeson would be cast as James.

Naturally.
