This came a month after Ubisoft confirmed their appearance at E3 a month ago. At this point, I think all that's left (that I could think of) is Xbox and EA, with the former skipping the showfloor

Didn't Microsoft wanted nothing to do with this E3 as well? Come to think of it, everyone's gravitating towards Geoff Keighley's Summer Games Fest, one way or another.
I wish i had half the blind confidence on myself that Ubisoft has, they are setting themselves for dissapointment when nobody decides to line up to the Ubisoft conference…cause its like …Ubisoft, games are not bad but is not at all like…Nintendo you know?

Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony aren't gonna be part of E3. Microsoft are doing their own event like right down the street at their own theater, Nintendo reps said that "E3 doesn't align with our plans for this year" (Nintendo probably feels it isn't worth the money to promote at E3 anymore when they can generate plenty of hype just making Directs in-house), and while Sony reps haven't said anything directly (yet) they have been skipping E3 for years now and simply doing State of Play presentations whenever they feel like it, and rumors are already abound they're probably planning something for May or June.
It's officially canned now due to lack of interest. I suppose Ubisoft leaving really was the final nail in the coffin. I take it this is the permanent death knell of E3.
Geoff Keighley is certainly happy with this news. He took the opportunity to make a pinned tweet reminding people that his show, Summer Game Fest, is still on for June 8 (and apparently Skrillex and Kid Cudi are gonna provide the "theme music" for this year's show, which as a minor aside I like Skrillex is still getting attention even after dubstep faded from the mainstream). He also posted a photo of him next to a Duke Nukem statue at the first ever E3 in 1995 saying that while E3 was awesome years ago, about four years back he felt E3 just wasn't doing it for people anymore so that's what motivated him to make his own show to begin with.
So instead of one show I would have to watch like 10 separate shows? that sounds fucking obnoxious
