A bit surprised Sony allowed Kojima to outright buy the IP, but given his high reputation and the fact they're still working with him on that Metal Gear inspired game for the future, I guess they figured it was worth it to keep him as a valuable third party partner. Only other time I can recall a first party relinquishing ownership of a third party developed IP they published is when Nintendo sold the rights to The Wonderful 101 to Platinum. I think it's safe to assume the PS5 exclusivity for DS2 will be much more limited than it was for the first, likely it'll be PC and Xbox within a year.
