As we all know by now, the SJW hive called NeoGAF has been shut down. Its users are like refugees, for they have nowhere to go. Maybe it is just because I was reading Pleb comics recently, but I feel remorse for they users. I understand that being doxxed and not having a forum to talk about games are very different things, but our reactions can be similar. If we laugh at NeoGAFfers and refuse them to make accounts here, are we any better from the Tumblrinas who laughed at the Plebcomics being doxxed? What separates us from the people who love to see others that they don't like get punched? Very little, is my answer. NeoGAFfers, at the end of the day, are still humans
Were they assholes? Yes.
Did they get many video games censored? Yes.
Should they be shunned from any and all meeting of gaming? No.
Maybe it is just me being idealistic. It could be my ignorance on the broader scope of their history. However, I think that if we show them that we forgive and accept, they might just change their ways.

Agreed. I don't follow NeoGAF news or NeoGAF anything, really, but I agree with giving everyone a chance. Even the shitposting dickheads that inhabit r/Megaten are pretty nice people when they're not busy shitposting. Maybe these "NeoGAFters" aren't as bad as we thought.

If they are, then we wait until they break a rule or two and permaban them.

It's not like they have the power to adjust other forums to their own liking, so why bother? If they don't fell comfortable with this or any other board, they will just leave.

How do you do that exactly? I don't recall there being a "are you a NeoGAF user?" tick box when you make an account. No one here can stop them anymore than 4chan users can stop them from pissing into the ocean of piss that is /v/.

From what I've seen, they're in a very intense circlejerk and its likely the political diversity on KYM would cause a great deal of rustling for them, which would lead to arguing, which would likely lead to them getting the boot for violating the rules or at the very least becoming the next Epic Wyn and getting ostracized and memed on before finally breaking.

Their inability to accept different viewpoints and not be a douchebag is what's going to lead to their downfall on other sites, not anything those sites' users will do. It's not like anyone here would know they're from NeoGAF. All we have to go off of is how they act.

Far as letting NeoGaf users on here: as long as the follow the rules, they can stay. Yeah they are annoying what with their rage over Jon Tron voicing a few lines in a game but if they can reel that in and be chill and all, they be Know Your Memers.

Stick to the rules, behave, and we cool. Don't do that and be an asshole, and the consequences are theirs. Same as any other new user.

Have we got confirmation that NeoGAF users are actually making accounts here, a memesite with tangential relation to gaming and almost-dead forums, in significant numbers? Seems like a lot of hullabaloo for no reason otherwise.

Well regardless of their rather shitty actions, they're still human and we still need to show them some form of basic human consideration. BUT if they decide to try and turn the site into their new Neogaf and dox, harass, and generally be horrible people then give em a ban.

But our Gamergate thread is already fucking terrible. It's the same 5 morons who can't move on past 2014 circlejerking over how terrifying the SJW menace is. At least they stick to their containment thread but seriously, it could not possibly be made worse than it already is. I'm not for banning discussion of it by any means but let's not pretend like those idiots can be excused just for being on the "opposite side" to Gaffers.

I would say it would be hard to tell them from any other new user, unless they blatantly state that they moved here from neogaf or make some outrageous claim to like ban conversation about certain video games.

Yes, of course; the mod team will take every possible measure to keep them away from the GamerGate thread, the crown jewel of the KYM forums.

In reality this won't be that bad. Likely it will lead to a NeoNeoGAF on Reddit.

Our article on GamerGate is a golden egg though; I've went through several sites who tried to encompass an overview of GamerGate, and to my knowledge, no site has established an objective review of this event and proceeding events better than KnowYourMeme, so we have that going for us. But yes, stay away from the thread; are latter topics even comprised of video games, or the overarching concept of SJWism? I don't much care for finding out.

Open the gates, but God help them if they bite the hand that feeds them.

If KYM can survive being invaded by /pol/, there's no reason to fear the gaffers.
