Sadpanda will shut down for good in the next few hours according to the following stickied thread on /h/

According to several anons, it's got to do with new regulations in Europe, but I hope somebody can confirm. Sadpanda's death will affect several other sites as well since most of them just repost stuff from there. Feel free to panic.

Given how much KYM's userbase tends to love anime tiddies, I'd expect many people to care. Remember how shit went crazy when Hentai Haven was kill?
No sadpanda = no more stuff in other sites like Tsumino or nhentai. They get most of their stuff from sadpanda.

Well, I guess nhentai can't scrape content from sadpanda now. Or have access to HQ versions of what's there.
Plus all the old art from artists who deleted their stuff or blogs disappeared.
Or old magazines and artbooks from shows and games and stuff.
Granted I bet most people outside of 4chan or wherever would be saying it's a good thing that the site's going away.
From what I get, the extreme stuff on exhentai's going in a few hours while everything else that's not on exhentai is going in 6 months when the site shutsdown in general.

I understand it's a legislation against loli/shota content. Basically, loli/shota hentai will be considered actual child pornography.

And does that legislation reduce the amount of actual children being raped or sexually exploited in other way?

Been watching the 4chan thread and I gotta say the desperation, sadness, and fear is downright palpable. It's honestly quite fascinating. It'd be cool to see how much data they managed to save and site traffic on SP/XH's end.

Not gonna lie, I found some rarities in e-hentai galleries some good old shit: like videogame guides and scan magazines, old scans from old gundam shows and even a tex-avery artbook. Lewds go and come but this old stuff that I'm talking about may be forever lost if those rumors are true.

The issue isn't "where else am I going to find content!?", it's that 10+ years of archived material from deleted accounts, books whose physical copies are long since gone, material from dead artists, etc's all gone "just like that", many of which aren't posted anywhere else, for one reason or another.

As much as I think certain reactions to this have been somewhat… extreme (arguments, accusations, and rather excessive use of the word "fag" included), replacing a website just isn't as easy as it sounds. Even if, by some miracle, every bit of work on the site was saved, and even if, by some greater miracle, every bit of what was saved ends up back on the internet in an accessible place, there's no guarantee there would be enough resources and motivation available to put it back together in a cohesive form. It feels to me sometimes like the internet just isn't as capable of anything as it used to be.

I personally don't have much of a stake in this, but I don't like seeing stuff lost. I hope whatever can be recovered is moved to a stable archive somewhere.
