Overview

The 2024 CNN Presidential Debate refers to the first debate that took place during the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election between the preliminary Republican and Democratic Presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Joe Biden, which was aired on CNN in late June 2024. Following the event, many Republican and Democrat voters questioned President Joe Biden's mental aptitude in the aftermath of the debate as concerns over his age spread widely online, as well as in reporting by the media. Memes (such as I Really Don't Know What He Said at the End of That Sentence), discourse and other reactions also emerged en masse shortly after, with many Americans expressing their apathy for the upcoming election and their annoyance at the candidate options for president.

I'm too burnt out to actually care about the implications of this debate all but handing the win to Trump. It was just too fucking funny to watch. How in the hell did Biden think it was a good idea to segue from abortion to an illegal immigrant raping and murdering someone on his watch. Why did he think it was a good idea to bring up the exit from Afghanistan as an achievement to be proud of. How did he fail to nail Trump to the wall on J6, or the mass deportation scheme, or his very clear refusal to say anything negative about Putin. Why did we hear more about who would be better at golf than about Trump being a convicted felon embroiled in a whole plethora of legal battles.

And for the love of god, why did Biden not at least take a drink of water at any point during the proceedings because his voice sounded like a creaking door and at many points he could hardly put together a coherent sentence. This is the guy that everyone on reddit is telling me I'm a bad person if I don't bend over and vote for him? Really? This is who you've chosen as the "last line of defense for our democracy"? No, this is just too ridiculous. If these are the choices we're being presented with and we don't get any say in them, then we've already lost. Mu, as the Buddhist would say: The question itself is wrong.

I can't support either of these parties in good conscience. Asking us to pick either of these candidates comes off as a demented joke more than anything else.

I've seen the politics subreddit. The industrial amounts of copium they're huffing right now is extreme. The new argument now has transformed into "i'm voting for Biden not because of him but because he has a competent team around him" yeah the same competent team that saw the guy's current condition and said "yes, Joe is definitely ready for a debate".

Granted, incompetent is still better than Trump's team being actively malicious, but it's hilariously baffling to see the democrats go all in on the "he's not Trump and that should be enough" strategy, because that certainly worked for them in 2016 (and don't give me the "she won the popular vote" soundbite please, talk to me about that when the popular vote matters in your country).
