About

Baba Vanga (Bulgarian: баба Ванга) (31 January 1911 – 11 August 1996), born Vangeliya Pandeva Dimitrova (Вангелия Пандева Димитрова), known after her marriage as Vangelia Gushterova (Вангелия Гущерова), was a blind Bulgarian mystic, clairvoyant, and herbalist, who spent most of her life in the Rupite area in the Kozhuh mountains in Bulgaria.

Online History

There isn't much any online history before her death. After her death, her image is particularly popular in the Balkans and in Russia. Numerous Russian publications related to the mysterious prophetess have been published. The Great Encyclopedia of Vanga is a Russian online project, dedicated to her. The Russian social media and conspiracy theorists began documenting these prophecies and predictions, according to the Washington Post[1].

Newsweek[2] notes that tabloids have started fixated on the Vanga's so-called forecasts of the future. Conspiracy theorists have flocked to the woman's long list of predictions, which appear to have no basis in evidence or fact. Though she died in the 1990s, tabloids report that she made claims about future events past the date of her death.

At the time, UK media has been busy documenting the rise of the Kardhasians, avoiding the veracities of Vanga and her prophecies. Nine's Pickle[3] noted that she predicted "the rise of ISIS", and has primed to become pop-culture's go to psychic. Many conspiracy theorists say that she warned of the rise of an extremist Muslim army that would invade Europe, referring to the rise of ISIS.

According to The Sun[4], she said that Europe would cease to exist by the end of 2016. Vanga's fans claim that she was referring to Brexit. This is false either way, since both Europe and the European Union still exist.

However, the Daily Mail[5] and others claimed she said that Barack Obama would be the "last American president," which falsely led some to believe Donald Trump would never be sworn in. Although debunked, this prophecy may have been come to pass after all, yet Vanga's supporters pulled a new prediction straight out of their ass which claimed that the 45th president will be a "messianic personality" who will be faced with a crisis that will "bring the country down", according to Metro UK[6] and Daily Mirror[7]. In addition, Vanga predicted that Trump will be loved by many, and he will last more than two terms[11].

Towards the end of 2017, UK tabloids[8] said that Vanga had two major predictions for the following year, where she states that China will become the world's next "superpower," taking over from the US, and "a new form of energy" will be discovered on Venus.

In March 2018, UK tabloids say Vanga foresaw total world domination from Russia and Vladimir Putin. Vanga's supporters may interpret this, along with China's, as "authoritarianism taking over the world."

Reputation

Vanga is best known as a healer and a clairvoyant for her predictions, dubbed the "Nostradamus from the Balkans".

Journal Metro[8] claimed that some evidence has also been presented that Baba Vanga did not make many of the predictions now attributed to her, but rather people frequently attribute new fake "prophecies" to her since her death, and the lack of a written record of her prophecies, makes any prediction attributed to her difficult to disprove.

She is said to have predicted the Kursk submarine disaster by saying the city will be under water, and the world would be weeping over it. She is also claimed to have foretold of 9/11 by claiming "two steel birds" would attack the "American brethren."

She reportedly said: "Horror, horror! The American brethren will fall after being attacked by the steel birds. The wolves will be howling in a bush and innocent blood will be gushing."

She was also said to have foreseen the failure of the Russian Phobos-Grunt spacecraft and its ensuing absurd episode on Wikipedia among other things when she said numerous disasters will "shake the world," and "the mentality of the people will change."

Other future events Vanga warned the world about include the end of world hunger by 2028, Mars' colonies gaining nuclear weapons by 2256 and Earth becoming unhabitable from 2341. Russian nationalists say that she foretold the rise of Russia under the man she called Vladimir, who appears to be Vladimir Putin.

She reportedly said on PravdaReport[10]: "Everything will melt away like ice yet the glory of Vladimir, the glory of Russia are the only things that will remain. Russia will not only survive, it will dominate the world."

Vanga also appeared to have predicted the rise of an anti-progress and globe-spanning oligarchic, autocratic plutocracy, with widespread wealth disparity. She states that: "Until money rule the world, there won't be any progress on Earth."

Personal Life

According to VICE Broadly[11], the reporter notes that Baba Vanga is very "right-wing and reactionary and xenophobic," wondering if she is a racist, when asked by a fellow Bulgarian clairvoyant, Madame Vanya.

Her own testimony stated that a turning point in her life occurred when a 'tornado' allegedly lifted her into the air and threw her in a nearby field. She was found after a long search. Witnesses described her as very frightened, and her eyes were covered with sand and dust, she was unable to open them because of the pain. There was money only for a partial operation to heal the injuries she had sustained, This resulted in a gradual loss of sight.

In 1925 Vanga was brought to a school for the blind in the city of Zemun, in the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, where she spent three years, and was taught to read Braille, play the piano, as well as do knitting, cooking, and cleaning.

In 1939 Vanga contracted pleurisy.
