"A Fine Addition To My Collection" is a quote said by the character General Grievous in the 2005 Star Wars film "Revenge of the Sith." The association Grievious and his lightsaber collection was furthered by later expanded media such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The meme has since become popular in both image macros and video edits in the Prequel Meme community.
Origin
In 2005 film "Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith" General Grievious takes the lightsabers from the captured Jedi Knights Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi saying "Your Lightsabers will make a fine addition to my collection." Later in the film, it is revealed that he has at least four lightsabers on him, and subsequent media such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars. would show him to have more still.
In early 2017 there was an image macro of this phrase which was used for several memes. In 2020, the actual video meme started with a post on Reddit on the 23rd of March 2020 by Reddit user u/Execute-order_66. The post reached over 100k upvotes and became the second most upvoted meme on r/PrequelMemes. It contains the scene from Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker, in which Kylo Ren throws his lightsaber in the water. Later it also got a lot of popularity on YouTube with multiple videos by YouTube user Janobot.
The videos on YouTube reached hundred thousands of views and after that, a lot of other YouTube users started making these memes (an example video is seen below).
