AI-Generated Touhou is a series of images resembling character art of the Touhou series and the style of its creator, ZUN. Since their first appearance, they had intense popularity in the form of fanart and cosplay.

Origin

The AI used to create the girls is named Looking Glass. It was created by Twitter user @ai_curio, who would post various images generated by the AI. Alongside this, ai_curio posted public releases of the AI.^[2]

On December 7th, 2021, Twitter user @CRUORMOR^[1] was inspired by the AI and used it to generate various anime-styled girls. That day, they posted images of girls inspired by Touhou, gaining over 1,100 retweets and 3,800 likes (shown below, right).

Spread

Over the following days, other users began posting their own fan art and cosplay of AI-generated Touhou girls. For example, on December 10th, 2021, user @idk_rn01^[3] posted art of an AI-generated Touhou, gaining over 70 retweets and 330 likes (shown below, left). On December 12th, user @punderfullll^[4] posted cosplay of a Touhou, gaining over 120 retweets and 740 likes (shown below, right).
