These videos, typically set to TikToker @arjunn's remix of "Kathy’s Waltz" by Dave Brubeck Quartet gained popularity in April 2020.

Origin

On April 25th, 2020, TikToker kellameier uploaded the first album look-a-like TikTok video by responding to the statement "when my mom asks what my backup plan is if I fail calc" with the album cover for Travis Scott's "Pornography" (shown below). The video garnered over 438,800 likes in five days.

On April 25th, 2020, ava.corona uploaded a variation in which she mimics the cover art for "Show Me How" by Men I Trust and received over 109,200 likes in five days (shown below, left). On April 26th, maddielortz uploaded a video mimicking the art for Ariana Grande's "Intro" in response to "when my friends ask me what part of my essay I'm on the night before it's due." The video garnered over 192,600 likes in four days (shown below, center). On April 28th, TikToker girls uploaded an iteration that accumulated over 876,100 likes in two days (shown below, right).
