Alright, July, Let's See What You Got is a popular phrase used with images of characters looking confident for the assumed negative events many predict will occur during July 2020. The meme is a commentary on the numerous tragic events that have occurred during the year 2020.
Origin
On June 30th, 2020, Twitter[1] user @status tweeted the phrase with a picture of the character Marge Simpson from the film The Simpsons looking stressed (shown below).
Spread
Over the next 24 hours, people continued to share images and GIFs of people standing up to a challenge. Twitter[2] user @Ninety7Bravo, for example, posted an image of Jedis from the Star Wars multimedia franchise (shown below, left).
Throughout the week, others shared variations of the meme (shown below, center and right).
On July 1st, Twitter user @LifeOfEdgard posted a variation with SpongeBob SquarePants that received more than 13,000 likes and 3,200 retweets in less than one week (shown below).
