Angriest Comment Thread On YouTube refers to a 500-plus comment argument between multiple YouTube users, including Lunar1314 and Aramaru1837, under a now-deleted upload for a Paper Mario: Sticker Star boss track that went viral after YouTuber Penguinz0 posted a video reading through the argument. The argument took place over the course of a year in 2016 and inspired memes and content referencing it following the upload by Penguinz0 in mid-August 2020.
Origin
On August 13th, 2016, YouTuber NewBrawlgamemusic uploaded the final boss music from Paper Mario: Sticker Star to YouTube, titled, "Spectacular Finale Paper Mario Sticker Star Music Extended HD." The video was deleted on an unknown date but was archived by the Wayback Machine.[1] Also on an unknown date, YouTube user Lunar1314 commented, "I don't care if I get hate because of this opinion, but this is my favorite paper mario final boss song." The comment sparked an argument thread that resulted in over 500 comments between users including Dave Matthews, Aramaru1837, Brooklyn Green, Mr. Hater and Metal Mario about the song and Paper Mario series, as well as general insults between the users.[2]
The comment thread became a subject of interest on August 16th, 2020, when Penguinz0, also known as Cr1TiKaL, posted a video to YouTube[3] titled "Angriest Comment Thread on Youtube," reading through the thread and giving commentary on it as if the thread is a television series (shown below). The video gained over 10.6 million views in two years.
A highlight from the video includes user Dave Matthew, who acts in defense of Lunar1314, repeatedly calling Aramaru1837 "my little maggot," becoming one of the main references in memes about the thread.

On August 17th, 2020, Redditor BactaBombsSuck posted an alignment chart placing select comments from the thread into each space to /r/Cr1TiKaL,[5] gaining over 400 upvotes in two years (shown below).
On August 25th, 2020, YouTuber KGOKev posted a video where he voices over the comment thread, gaining over 165,000 views in two years (shown below).
On December 28th, 2020, YouTuber gechotaris posted a video sharing messages about the deletion of "Spectacular Finale Paper Mario Sticker Star Music Extended HD," gaining over 12,400 views in just over a year (shown below).
On March 16th, 2021, Redditor 88T3 posted a meme to /r/dogelore[4] referencing the thread, showing a Doge representing Lunar1314 posting the original comment, gaining over 1,600 upvotes in a year (shown below).
