Basketball-Themed Peeing refers to a series of POV photos taken by men seemingly peeing who caption the image with a sports-related catchphrase akin to basketball players and famous quotes from sports announcers. The memes predominantly surfaced on Twitter / X in early 2024 from user Craig Schultz (@CraigSchultzy).

Origin

Starting in November 2023, X^[1][2] user @CraigSchultzy began posting memes with POV photos of him seemingly peeing. For instance, on November 26th, 2023, @CraigSchultzy posted a photo of himself seemingly peeing into a cardboard box, captioned, "Mike breen: 'BANG!!'" gaining 7 likes in four months (shown below, left).

On December 31st, 2023, X^[3] user @CraigSchultzy tweeted a POV photo of him seemingly peeing into a sink, captioned with another Mike Breen-related caption, reading, "'From down town… BAAAANG,'" receiving over 19,000 likes in three months (shown below, right).

Spread

Following his first viral tweet, @CraigSchultzy continued to post Basketball-Themed Peeing memes, like one X^[4] post shared on February 8th, 2024, that showed him seemingly peeing on a wall, captioned, "The bank is ALWAYS open," receiving over 28,000 likes in a month (shown below, left).

Going into late February 2024, others joined the trend, such as X^[5] user @DMegacock on March 1st, 2024, who showed himself seemingly peeing over a trashcan, captioned, "Hand down man down… over the defender!!!! #BANG," earning over 14,000 likes in three days (shown below, right).

Some followed the format but referenced other sports as the trend evolved. For instance, on March 3rd, 2024, X^[6] user @MarkTwang12 referenced the game of lacrosse, captioning a video, "Stay on his hands!" The tweet received over 390 likes in a day (shown below).
