(slang, derogatory, vulgar) Bitch eating crackers, or bitch eatin crackers, also known as BEC, the BEC effect or BEC syndrome. The term refers to a strong and disproportionate dislike of someone, to the extent that almost anything they do makes one angry or annoyed. Even something as casual and inconsequential as eating crackers.
"Becky said something rude about my friend and now everytime I see her I'm like 'look at this bitch eating crackers.'"
Origin
The earliest known use of bitch eating crackers comes from @theangryhealer on twitter in 2011.
Spread
It later appeared in a comment on CaptainAwkward.com in 2013.
And as a some ecard meme as early as 2012.
It gained more traction 2013 when it was tweeted by a Will Ferrell parody account, @WIll_Ferrell. Many sources cite this as its origin point.
By 2016, it appeared on UrbanDictionary.com
In 2020, comedian Cristela Alonzo uses a version of it in a bit, switching it to "look at that bitch eating chicken."
In 2024 twitter user @aliceisplaying tried to breadcrumb the origins of bitch eatin crackers uncovering most of the above occurances, and suspects the origin to be tumblr.
The same year, it spreads via use on an episode of the Maintenance Phase Podcast
