Buff Cdirk is a meme from the MMO game Realm of the Mad God. The Cdirk, or Dirk of Cronus, was a powerful and highly sought-after item in the game. In 2018, a very similar but slightly more powerful item, the Etherite Dagger, was released. Due to the Cdirk being weaker than the Etherite Dagger despite being much rarer, “buff cdirk” became a meme on the r/RotMG subreddit. A subredditor named GoldennHD_(Brett) made “buff cdirk” posts for 115 straight days, eventually being made to stop by the mods. In response to this, around the beginning of February, the subreddit exploded with “buff cdirk” memes, almost to the point to spamming, according to the mods. Then, in response to complaints about “buff cdirk” posts flooding the subreddit and decreasing post/meme diversity, the mods decided that “buff Cdirk” posts for be banned within 24 hrs of a post they made adressing the issue. While continuing to be one of the most popular memes in the game to this day, the Cdirk itself has been buffed and once again, outclassed by newly released items.
