Can We Honestly E Date?, also spelled Can We Honestly Edate?, is a copypasta written from the perspective of a person (sometimes associated with being a simp) attempting to woo another into an online relationship, growing increasingly desperate as the message progresses. It appears the copypasta was first posted to Discord, considering some of the language used in the post reference Discord functions, though the origin is unconfirmed. The copypasta began trending in January 2022 after it was posted to TikTok by user @kaeyacrack without context, leading some to believe the poster had received the message in earnest.
Origin
It is unclear when the message was first posted or where it came from. However, the earliest recorded instance of a portion of the copypasta being posted came on April 16th, 2021, when Twitter user @K9RM3Z[1] posted it on their account (shown below).
Spread
On July 15th, 2021, Redditor[2] Godly_Stukov posted the full version of the copypasta on /r/copypasta, gaining 75 points in six months (full text shown below).

On January 2nd, 2022, the copypasta received a surge of interest after TikToker @kaeyacrack posted a video of themselves receiving the copypasta on Discord, gaining over 218,000 likes (shown below, left). After some confusion on if the message was sent in earnest, @kaeyacrack posted a video explaining they knew the copypasta was sent in jest (shown below, right).
