On July 29th, 2026, Instagram^[1] user ChantyBeluga, a page run by comedian Courtney O'Donnell, in which she plays a character named Chanty Beluga, posted her first video.

In the video, she plays out a situation where Beluga orders an Uber. There is no obvious joke in the video. Beluga simply announces to the driver her name and then laughs. The video gained over 4,400 likes in three weeks.

O'Donnell continued to post videos as Chanty Beluga over the following weeks, both on Reels and TikTok. For example, on August 15th, she posted a video on TikTok^[2] that gained over 644,000 views in three days.

On August 17th, she posted a video on TikTok^[3] that gained over 1.1 million views in a day.

On August 16th, X^[5] user @charizardavis quoted a repost of a Beluga video where she's served lawsuit papers, writing, "a bunch of y'all are gonna be deleting your pro-chanty beluga tweets in the next coming days… she's done some terrible things," garnering over 2,500 likes in two days.

That day, TikToker^[6] @twinklindsay posted a video where he jokingly exposes Chanty Beluga for stealing products from his grocery cart while shopping, garnering over 745,000 views in two days.

On August 17th, 2026, TikToker^[7] @spaghettiflex posted a comedy video where she pretends to be a woman who has accidentally been delivered Chanty Beluga's mail, garnering over 334,000 views in a day.
