Overview

The premise is that the rules of chess are drastically changed and it is even combined with other games to the point of becoming unrecognizable.

Origin

This meme was originally based off of a short BBC sketch entitled "How to Play Chess Properly" which was originally posted on the daily motion on June 6 2012 by "Everything about Earth and Beyond" On December 2, 2022, Meme Lord Marcus become the first know person to imply that this version of chess is from Ohio in their "Can't even play chess in Ohio 💀" video. Marcus is also the first person to add the speed of version of smoke by Cowbell Cult.

Development

Meme Lord Marcus's video spawned many new iterations and reuploads, such as "Chess in Ohio" by Res or an animated video, "Can't even play chess in Ohio 💀" by Mind of Arj. Both of theses videos add to the meme by adding new game mechanics and trying to add explanations for the rules.
