About
Cotton Candy In Water refers to a clip from The King of Random in which channel co-host Calli dumps large amounts of cotton candy into a fish tank filled with a small amount of water and marvels at the speed at which the cotton candy dissolves. After the clip was reposted on Twitter in July of 2019, people began using it as a reaction clip describing moments in which objects disappear quickly.

The clip comes from The King of Random video "The QUICKEST Way to Get Rid of Cotton Candy," posted January 25th, 2019 (shown below).
On July 10th, the clip was isolated by Twitter user @gamaniak, gaining over 277 retweets and 800 likes (shown below).

On July 27th, Twitter user @lowkeylang reposted the video, gaining over 28,000 retweets and 86,000 likes (shown below)

As the video spread, other users began adding humorous captions to the clip describing situations where an object vanishes very quickly. For example, Twitter user @IsaacFitzgerald[1] tweeted it with the caption "What my brain does with compliments," gaining 100 retweets and 860 likes (shown below, left). User @devon_cantwell[2] tweeted "Reading 50 academic articles to write 3 sentences for your paper," gaining over 40,000 retweets and 135,000 likes (shown below, right).
Other users associated the clip with monetary loss. User @LivvyFanon[3] tweeted "This is what happens to your money when you don’t own property in capitalism," gaining over 2,700 retweets and 16,000 likes (shown below, left). User @jakebunger[4] tweeted "this is what happens when I make a payment on my student loans," gaining over 9,700 retweets and 50,000 likes (shown below, right). Jokes were covered by the Daily Dot.[5]
