The 2026 Iran riots refer to the general state of mass unrest present in the Islamic Republic of Iran^[1], having started in late December of 2025 and as of January 2026 increasing in casualties and attention, attributed to economic hardships and dissatisfiaction with quality of life. With dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries across the country^[2], and calls for international policing actions from the side of the protesters^[3], it remains to be seen whether Donald Trump, having already stated once that in case of escalation will intervene^[4], will make a further geopolitical move.
