Time to take some trips down memory lane. So, back in 2013, Microsoft made the very unwise decision to make their (then brand new) Xbox One console "always online", infamously telling prospective consumers to just deal with it.
In response, Sony put out a statement saying that they didn't even think about putting an always online requirement for the PS4. The matchup between Sony and Microsoft for that generation can be compared to a Hydrogen bomb going up against a coughing baby.

What a fall from grace for Sony here…
