Overview

Jefri Nichol's Insulting Tweet refers to a tweet from Indonesian Actor Jefri Nichol on his Twitter account that accusing peoples who had ugly face always mocking him after he was arrested and rehabilitation due to having a narcotic type marijuana at his residence.

Background

According to Indonesian media such as liputan6. In the middle of July 2019, Indonesian Actor named Jefri Nichol was arrested by Polres Jakarta Selatan due to having a narcotic drugs^[1] (shown below). Polres Jakarta Selatan was founded narcotic type marijuana with weight 6.01 grams from his residence at Kemang, Jakarta Selatan^[2]. After he was arrested, the news about him became Indonesia trending topic on Twitter that received more than 25.000 tweets^[3].

"Benar sudah dilakukan penangkapan (Jefri Nichol). Baru saja sore tadi ya," (English "That's right we arrest him (Jefri Nichol). It was happened at evening" says Police officer Suharyono.

At November 11th, 2019, Jefri Nichol attend court at Pengadilan Negeri Jakarta Selatan. He was sentenced to rehabilitation for seven months at Rumah Sakit Ketergantungan Obat (English: "Drug Dependency Hospital") Cibubur, Jakarta Timur^[4].

Parole

But at December 16th, 2019, Jefri Nichol got parole after he was appeared at "Habibie dan Ainun 3" film premier at Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta. Many peoples was exited hearing this news, even when he uploaded his photo after rehabilitation on Instagram @jefrinichol, the photo was received more than 1 million likes^[5] (shown below).

At January 31st, 2020, on his Twitter @jefrinichol, he created a tweet that accused peoples who had ugly face always mocking and comparing him after his rehabilitation at RSKO Cibubur ^[6] (shown below).

In English: "People who create tweet like 'if people with ugly face doing x it must be blahblahblah, and if people with handsome face doing x it must be blahblahblah'. Sorry to say, it must be people who have ugly face.".

After that, many Indonesian Twitter user mocking the tweet and create some memes about him when he was arrested due to having a marijuana. For example at 31st January 2020, Twitter user @dimasmlana28 commented on Jefri's Tweets that suggesting him to nyabu (English: "do meth") when he want to leaving Twitter for a while^[7] (shown below).
